Well the luck is continuing on I pulled apart the primary as well to clean it up and found the roller ramps and outer spring conatinment to be wore out and broken:rant::(:( any one have any of this for sale? I might be better off to part this thing out:rant::realmad:

since the begining of the season I bought the sled worked well for an 1hr then the inner crank bearings went, so it was a complete engine rebuild, then I had these majical trees that jumped out of noware at all and cost me a front bumper, I had to build a frame straitner to fix up a few bends. Now the track has blowen and the primary is not in good shape.

I have cleaned up ramps with a drill press and a grinding wheel. I made my own block to hold all three ramps at once. I then cleaned up the burrs on the sides with sandpaper. Maybe kind of "Redneck" but it saved me 120$ and still using those ramps two years later. If you have an 07 tra7 the rollers on those were junk if not updated. Best and cheapest roller are from High Torque Rollers, they are in Creston and I had mine quick. Check your roller pins too, mine were trashed. If you replace the spring cap do the sliding sheave bushing as well, it is only about 15$, put a bit of green loctite on it when you press it in. Get the retaining clip as well because they always bend. Do not try to replace the spring cap bushing it will almost positively fail, buy the whole cap, about 75$.We have done my 08 and my buddies 07 and a happy clutch makes a world of difference. If I can help you in any way let me know I am in P.G. Good Luck

TRA 7 does not have splines to hold the outer on to the shaft of the fixed sheave, TRA 3 will have splines. A good TRA 3 is hard to find but TRA 7 parts are quite a bit easier. Many people were taking off their TRA 7 and replacing with TRA3. You could lose most of the season waiting to find a good TRA 3 The TRA 7 was problematic in 07-08 but they are good with the updated parts. If you have an 07 summit it would have had a TRA 7 on it from the factory.

WOW It is trashed. Looks to me like it is best to find a new clutch. I sent you a PM on clutches that will interchange. I dunno how you thought it performed, but get her fixed and it will be like a whole new sled. That sled was neglected for a long time before you bought it so it may be a good idea to look at the chaincase and the secondary too.

Thanks finndo for the info I may have found a clutch there is a fella in cranbrook B.C that has a TRA3 he said for $350. He daid it was in good shape that they took it apart and cleaned it all and it looked good, he said I would need to change the ramps for what my sled came with to get optimal performance. There is also another guy who has a 1000 clutch that siad to make him a offer what do you guys see these things sell for? what kind of internals would I have to change on the 1000 clutch?

If you can get a TRA3 for 350 I would go for it assuming the clutch is in good shape, but even if it needs a few little parts you are still further ahead then trying to fix that mess that you have. Depending on what ramps are in it you may be able to run what it has, or grind them to match what you need. I am not positive without seeing the non-moveable sheave but it looks like a TRA7, and if you found no splines on the shaft that holds the moveable sheave then it almost definitely is a 7. From my understanding you can run a TRA 5 from a 1000 twin if you change out the ramps, arms with rollers, and spring, from a TRA 3 or 7. I am not positive so if someone else knows for sure please let us know.
