Power Commander 5 Install Help

I bought a PCV off Ebay. I tried installing it today and my sled will not start with the unit plugged in. I assumed the install was as easy as plugging the unit into the ECM. Am I missing something? I connected the laptop while it was plugged in and I see nothing happening. The sled does run for 1 second when I run it without the PCV and plug it back in. I think that because of the fuel sent from the stock ECM. During that brief second, there are some readings on the PC software. This is on a 2010 dragon. Thanks.

when connected to the laptop is the green status light on? is this a used controller or new?

The status light is green. I thought the small wire was for the optional temp input. The unit was listed as brand new unopened.

Ok. The instruction that came with it didn't say anything about a ground wire.
