how the EFF did you manage to break an 830 in half!

It's a 789 Cat snapped in half on the frame rails behind the fuel tanks. Porosity in the metal from a previous unknown long term crack.

I get to investigate the major incidents in our heavy equipment operations.

sounds like an awesome job. ever see the pics of the D8 scooped up in one of those huge digging wheels? looks like a tonka

I recognize the second last picture :)
mine? you work at brandt? maybe one of the mechanics that had to pull the cylinder pins so it would fold low enough? lol....or one of the guys in the office that told me "oh? they hauled it here like that...."

Oh I loved it when they said that, " thats how they hauled it here " JD650 on 32... in the spring...what they don't say, is that it was in the middle of the night, and on the back roads to get there... :)

Yup. Also have some pic's of one that we blew apart as a quick dismantle job, easiest way to take it down.

my bad... should of zoomed in, the small pic made it look like an 830 we had up at Diavik

so what makes you investigate these things? the accident or the broken equipment?

Yup,.. but not me that worked on it, nor am I an office geek :)

there we go......here's some pic of this weekends task, insulating a building horizontaly instead of vertical on the footing/slab.......nothing like insulating ashvault....but who am i to argue with an engineer.....pays the bills

I thought it was 4feet down and 4 feet out was rule of thumb!
