looks to me that you're doing more work with your arms than you're supposed to be doing Mr!!!!!!!

better figure out what caused that breakage so it does not occur again!

That and poor engineering. The hitch pin sitting out at that angle will put an awful lot of stress on the frame. It will act like a lever every time you hit a bump. The pin should be under the frame more IMO.

I checked ours very carefully after seeing these pics. Our hitch pin is mounted at a slight angle so the stress is not near as much as on Ron's trailer. Hopefully everyone reading these posts will give their fiver a good inspection.

I blame the heavy RZR he's pulling..... he should take my quad and I'll take his RZR for the rest of the year.

I called the dealer where this trailer was put purchased. They had many in with the same issue and not just forest river. Keystone trailers have the same issue, any one with this same frame. The metal is 1/8" thick, I just purchased a 5 x 2 x 1/4" thick Replacement and also will be adding these gussets

Found a welder, Richard from Tundra Welding Services at 780-387-1783.
He's done a great job.
Got at the metal from metal supermarkets.
Thanks to RonH for all his hard work as well.

Just have to put everything back together before Wednesday for BVJ

No, the this same frame is known to have several issues with this crossmember. I did some research and there is a lot of failures with this frame in the same spots. The metal is very thin and the factory welds are crap. This isn't the first one to break.

Not sure, these have had many failures with no trailer behind.

It only adds dead stopped , initially moving weight

Anything behind will take hitch weight or pin weight on truck

Actually having worked on many trailers at Hunters I found Ron's to be even thinner metal than back in the mid90's. It took me literally 45 seconds to completely cut through the frame with a cordless saws all. The welds were shoddy to say the least, after seeing this level of quality I think it prudent for everyone take a serious look at their trailers. More specifically the higher stress points. Just sayin...

Like tex said it wont be extra weight on king pin it will be extra force being exerted on pin and frame from towing the extra weight. Fifth wheel trailers themselves have a max loaded weight rating. The idea of that is to keep those forces down within a managable limit for the trailer frame, axels,king pin ect. It would be like towing a truck using the tow hooks. In theory they can handle the force of towing the truck. Add a extra thousand pounds to truck box and the hooks will break due to the extra force being exerted. However in this case it sounds like manufacturing issues
