Ya, can see your concerns! At the rate BRP can blow belts, you would want quick access for changing them so you don't fall too far behind the group, and you sure as h#ll wouldn't want anything near it when it grenades!!!...............:twocents:

at least u can change a belt if it blows on the hill..... u must keep a spare po po 800 under ur back seat then.... so u can change it on the hill.... or mabe the belt blowin doo can pull ya out ....:d

Boo hoo another sled blew up. I for one still believe that these 800's that keep blowing up has to something to do with rider. idk. i know a kid that has one and run junk oil, never lets it warm up and just plain old treats it like chit and it still runs just fine. Another possibility is dose anyone really know who the guy rebuilding your engine the first time is/ maybe he is a bit of a retard and has o idea could be a cause of repeat repairs. I would look into the dealer before i take my chit there. Oh i saw 2 doo's and 1 Yamaha blow up this year it happens to them all.

we can tell your a polaris guy but you cant pretend this issue doesnt exist. yes theya lll blow up....NOT like this. 1 time...fine...2 times...maybe......3,4,5 is a nono. a monkey could install these engines it is NOT the installation or the rider. i know some guys that have had theirs go out on them and take good care of their junk.

I am just saying it dosn't make sense that a brand new engine would blow up for no reason. The only times i have ever seen that is on poor rebuilds that the guy just didn't care. There are lots of 800's out there with lots of miles on them so why is it some blow up and some don't.

I've said this before about sleds and there warranties. For the money we all pay to these manufacturers for there "overpriced" equipment, they should at the very least provide us with a warranty for a full 4 years.
When you consider the machines only get used as little as 4 months per year, I don't think that would be asking too much.
It's not as though they're giving there product away!
I know for a fact $14,000.00 will buy me at least a dozen different models of cars that would come with 4 year warranties and that would be operating them 365 days a year and as much as 20 thousand kms per year.

you sir neeed to put down the pipe

2 stroke motor life IS NOT 4 STROKE MOTOR LIFE. 4 months per year?

i ride 8 months per year....and about 5000+KM A season.

5000-7000 is a good life for a 2stroke motor IMO.

these ARE NOT honda civics. a 4 year warranty is not feasable unless paid for seperately. most manufactureres are offering a 3 year now which is excellent.

a 4stroke sled should absolutely have a 4 year warranty no doubt. a 2 stroke is a high performance machine that does not last forever.

its the price you pay for excellent performance out of the box.

$14000 when it comes to a toy ya it can be alot but is pretty standard. when it comes to a car your scratching at the bottom of the bowl most $80000 trucks only get 5 years on the powertrain now thats a lot of coin. If they gave you factory 4 years on a sled it would be like $20000 for the thing, that there is a couple engines.

in 4 seasons i will have 20-25000km on my sled.

ya i bet my 2stroke willl last that long forsure!

i fully expect to be through a chassis and 3 engines in that time frame.

i would buy sleds without warranty if possible. engines are cheap.

I remember when i rode mx bikes once a year if not more we would do top end depending how many hours we road them. when it comes to a 2-stroke top ends are almost a maintenance thing you do around 5000 km.

Dodge trucks from Mexico have less warranty issues than the ones produced in the US...just sayin...

This wouldnt scare me off one bit...I put far more trust in Mexican labor than US labor...The Mexicans 'want' and 'need' their jobs, and arent protected by the union or seniority...something to think about...

Polaris doesn't give a crap about you after they cash your check!!That goes for atvs and sleds!!Was a polaris rider till I got a 08 800 dragon rmk and it was the biggest piece of crap(broken rear suspension at 60 miles, again at 200,engine at 700 miles, new engine recall 1100 miles). Also I don't do jumps so the suspension is a shitty system. Also I kind of expected to get a dud when I bought it because of the law of averages(I've owned 12 polaris sleds since 1996)but to have my dealer tell me I jinxed the sled because I said I was due for a dud I was ready to start swinging!!Then when the motor popped and he said 'oh well' thats when the M1000 came on the yard followed by a M6 for the wife!!Then polaris screwed me on some recall stuff on my kids mini razers!!!Send me a letter about a new air box update after both motors ingested dirt and blew and they wouldn't cover a cent!!2000 A PIECE FOR NEW ENGINES!!!But they recommended that the razers not be used in muddy or dusty conditions!!!They're atvs and I live on a farm, kids will find mud or dust!!!So if anyone still believes polaris's b......t good luck you''ll need deep pockets to run their crap!!!!

I have had good luck with all the polaris machines i have ever owned. chit last time i was in vega i sunk the 850 in 5' of water tipped it upside down drained out the water and she fired right up, now thats a good machine. I am sorry people are having so much trouble but you can't expect warrenty when its up.

Do you actually think the quality of workmanship could be inferior to now. I agree with whoever commented on the amount of appreciation and value an employee puts on, not only doing the job but having the job. A scarey amount of the employees assembling these things in Canada and the US of A have a sense of entitlement that flies directly in the face of good quality responsible productivity. And yes , I hate unions, they should be immediately abolished, their huge assetts should be distributed to the members of that industry , and we should start over. I'd rather risk dealing fairly with most employers than trying to deal with the unions which have become self serving asset gathering machines dedicated about 5 % to improving conditions for employees and 95 % to creating a greater financial empire.

I'm willing to bet if we did a poll as to how many miles guys put on their machines, you'd be on the short list Maxwell. I certainly envy that fact:d you ride the amount you do but the reality is most of us don't do the 5-6k a year you do.
As far as the pipe goes, you must be the guy selling what goes in the bowl to allow you the luxury of riding 8 mths a year and not really caring if you even got a warranty after dropping 14K. :d

well if i didnt have warranty i would have paid 10,000 for my brand new sled and so far i have not needed warranty 4000km and 1 year later.

thats my idea behind no warranty...lower cost...for the guys that can wrench on their own stuff to save some cost

every brand will fire right up after you drain the water out of them, polaris hasn't revolutionized anything there....
