Pics Of Loading Wrecks/oops's???

A dude I know was loading his Turbo Apex into his four place last year. They were putting 5 sleds in so he thought that he'd put it in facing backwards, using the front ramp... Weeelllll, the sled was cold and stalled a couple of times so he hit the throttle a little hard, when his sled hit the ramp the front end came up, he hit his noggin on the top of the doorway and got peeled right off the sled. Headache lasted until 2 days after they got back from their trip. No damage to the trailer though, couple of scratches on the hood of the sled from the cabinets in the trailer.

Summitric, the rum was great that nite, but they're always great on a sleddin' trip!!. And if there's going to be rum, cigars,and scotch at the Mountain Mania ride...might as well toss in some poker chips , that way the missus will at least know why the bank account took such a beating

Scotch and fat cigars I'm so into this. I know a club member that has two carbide marks on the roof of his truck no pictures he also put skis through back window also did a bunny off the side of the deck and off the ramp. He sold his deck and will not load his sled on one. He is not much better on a trailer always good for a giggle.

Sledding is always the first priority, and if you cant' sled cause you've got a bit of a head-ache or tummy-ache.....you will be shown no mercy! and likely become the designated driver forever!...and don't even think, of not going up the trail because it looks overcast in the valley!!!!!!!

Ok well here is my wreck (not me) I was off for a week from guiding as I was headed on the cruise and we had a buddy helping my boss out. In the parking lot at Clemina on a brand new REV 600. the peson in question had never loaded a sled deck before and hit the deck with the throtle pinned... well cleared the deck with the ski's hit the roof and rode clean off the passenger side taking the mirror off the side of the silver Dodge...lol he broke his foot in 3 places and drove himself to the hospital in Jasper. Best load wreck I have herd of... but for me I put a tundra thru the back of dad's truck when I was 13!!!

I am amazed how many guys are landing sleds on the tops of their trucks, and skis through the back window. On my old marathon deck, it was impossible for the ski to hit the window. And don't these sleds have brakes? To launch a sled up the ramp, over the headache rack, and on top of the cab, buddy must be going 40 mph up the ramp?? I've never had to go that fast to get my sleds loaded.

Here's how I did it and mayby you will understand,I wont do it again.I left my ramp on my truck in the morning ready to load when we got down.After a long day of riding we came down the mountain into the parking lot and I didnt even slow down and went up the ramp not realizing I was still moving way to fast and I felt like I was doing 40 miles an hour when the ski's hit the roof of my truck.
Moral of my stupidity,Stop before you load!
Doo Boy is going to make me pay for that!LOL!

Something to be said about that last climb of the day.... Seen a few wild horses loading also.... Seen a few guys load on to my deck that gives ya that puckered feeling.

I suppose thats why I won't let other guys load onto my deck / my truck. No one to blame if I land the sled on my own roof

Wow!!!That musta been something to see. I'm sure we've all had little mishaps not being lined up quite right. But the "when in doubt...pin it" mountian riding saying, doesn't apply in the parking lot. I saw another one where a guy with lots of expierience with decks came in too hot; stood the sled straight up at the top of the ramp, grabbed the brake, and the skis came down perfect about an 1/8" in front of the headache rack.

In our case it was basically a ramp up to the tailgate and the deck was a 'custom' job (read: home-made), and yes the sled did have fully functioning brakes, I could tell by the red light that came on in mid-flight, the key phrase here is 'mid-flight'. Man, it still brings a smile to my face everytime I remember it!

I have had a couple of problems thankfully no pics. The 1st was outside of a hotel in Meadow lake in front of the resturant loaded up my sled on my tilting trailer drove it up tipped the trailer up went back to the truck to look for gloves cause it was like -28 out, no gloves put hands in pockets jump up on the deck to secure the sled.....forgot to put in the pin trailer slams down....didn't have time to get my hands out of pockets slam my face into the deck and skid down on my belly....real graceful I can see like 6 people in the resturant laughing when I looked they glance away chuckling

2nd time stupid pin again loaded up everything secure it tarp it down get out on the hiway at 9:30 at night looks like the trailer is dog tracking a bit hmmmm...... tempo on my tail ready to pass hit a bump trailer tips up and a HUGE shower of sparks rain off this car it was a pretty cool site pull over with the trailer still dragging old lady in the tempo passes me and her eyes were the size of pie plates wish I woulda had a pic of that

Watched a few close calls throughout my "sled deck years"....always managed to save em....knock on wood. First time I went with my buddy in his new enclosed trailer I was standing when loading in my back alley and took the top of the door opening to the forehead as I rolled in.....sled rolled to the front of the trailer with no damage while I layed on my back on the loading ramp/door with tweety birds singin'.....hahaha.
