I got a phone call today from a person that spoke very poor English. He said my computer was sending him viruses and that my computer has been infected with a malicious program. I said wow that doesn't sound good. He said he could help me. I asked him what the malicious program was. Said if you can help me you must know what I am infected with. He repeated a malicious program but would not give me any more information. I went on with him for a bit and asked all sorts of questions, I could tell I was getting to him. I said I suppose you need my credit card information. He said no just had to follow his instructions. I said I would take care of it myself. He said "you got to be kidding me" " you will fix this"? I said you have my email address right since I have been sending you infected emails. He said yes. I said I don't have time for this right now so how about you send me the information and I'll have a look at it. His reply was "you don't have time for this? Do you have time to F#@* your wife?"
That is when I lost it and hate to say it but I got a little racist over the phone and ended the conversation. Now I'm in a pissed off mood.

thats the newest rage in phone scams, they tell you you have a virus, tell you they will help get it off of your comp. they offer this out of the goodness of their hearts.....then they give you software to get rid of the virus....this software then infects your pc and they will contact you from a different # offering to fix it for $

I wonder if this is the same idea as the scam where someone calls claiming to be a Microsoft Employee. Brutal, I was just reading up on this and the best advice they have to to keep the guy on the phone as long as you can so that he's tied up instead of ripping off or compromising.

Or be like my mom..... Her antivirus expired recently and she needed a new system. I don't know what she had in the past. So I told her to download Microsoft Security Essentials.... It's good enough for a person that does no banking or shopping online, and it's free. Not to mention she uses actual dial up still....

She doesn't listen to me of course and gets Windows Active Guard instead...... Yeah..... A quick google search nets that Active guard is a virus itself...... so now I have to clean it up for her and install something else.

I bug her that I didn't think people actually fall for those scams.... Oh well.

these guys are lots of fun to fawk around with, especially if you know a vast knowledge of computers and error screens etc..... they can scramble and back pedal damn fast.

The last time they called I told them I didn't even have the internet, and they proceeded to basically tell me I'm lying to them, that was a fun one!

Can't wait for next time :D

you ask who would fall for that? Well unfortunately too many people who just don't know any better, Older generations who have never really used a computer much are the best targets. Younger poeple who think they are computer savy but are just biting the edge. The ones who don't fall for it have had experience or have been severely warned. I get a kick out of these "specialists" who try to swindle you. They are fun to play with when you know it is crap.

I've received a few calls like this as well, (who hasn't). I'd love to get my hands on a busload of these types of scumbags.

There's a funny site called 419eater, they screw with those guys emailing people about Nigerian lotteries and other scams. They get quite intricate, and get these clowns doing some funny chit

yup, i put some goof on hold 5 or 6 times for 5-10 min at a time once, he was getting SUPER pissed, at one point i told him i had to run to the bathroom to take a $hit, suprisingly he was still there 10 min later! then i told him my g/f was going to bed & if i wanted some i had to go, and just hung up on him. i dont know why but he never called back?

My wife has had them call a few times. She tells them that she doesn't own a computer. Suddenly they go quiet and asks her, " you don't own a computer". If a person could see the looks on their face when she tells the no would be priceless.
