Covid didn’t make it better. But it was on going way before covid. The last time I called in to inquire they said they opened a ticket to investigate in February 2019. As of spring 2020 they still did not have an expected timeframe for a fix.

alright, well, I won't be looking at the smart hub then.

I'll know more by Sept 15, but we're just south of the tracks on RR21, I'm hoping CCI might work there.

Start with CCI, they are great and I was really hoping to get away from explornet when we moved from the acreage to the lake. CCI sent out a tech who ran some tests and told us "we can provide you with service here, BUT there is a very strong signal up there and it's not ours so you'd likely be better off with whoever's signal that is" He couldn't tell me who the provider was but as it turns out it was explornet. Because we have a clear line to the upgraded tower we have had very few issues with explornet at this house..... At the acreage it was brutal.

I've come to the conclusion that there is no such thing as fast reliable rural internet. They all do the same thing; come out with a shiny new product, sell it to too many people till it gets bogged down and almost unusable. We have tried them all . Currently with Telus hub and they oversold it just like they told us they weren't going to do. I just chalk it up to living in the country. It's one of the hazards. Welcome to the GBCA.

I have to agree with this as I too have tried many different providers and have experienced the same results! That being said, I will never move to the city!

CCI wasn't an option in my area (Chickakoo) but I've heard great things about them. We setup with Xplorenet and haven't had any issues, it's not the fastest but it seems to be reliable. It's pretty rare we have outages these days. We used to get them a few years ago but haven't had a single issue in a couple years now since they upgraded their network.

Totally agree. I’ve had Telus smart hub for about a month and it’s very fast right now. The regular phone line internet was ok years ago, but kept getting worse. It took a ton of complaining about the other to give me a smart hub though. So maybe they are trying to avoid having too many. For some reason though 1 subdivision over from me has crazy fast internet through the phone line, heard someone from Telus lived there. Its a joke though why one can get it so fast but not another.
