painted rims

has anyone painted your steel quad rims? want a set of black rims just cant afford them so was thinking about painting them.any info thanks

tryed that once and it looks good for about 30 feet or 30 secs just dont work

I did the rims on my bear about 3 months ago, we've been out a few times in the snow and muck and they are still holding out. I gave them 3 coats of black and 2 coats of clear.

I may have to save up then:(
. If you get them sandblasted then use quality paint I cant see why they shouldnt be good or find a dealer that has some new take off rims should be $30- $40 per rim cheaper than new

I may have to save up then:(

Prepare the surface good first sandblast or even just scuff with sand paper, then paint and finish with clear. You won't be out too much if it starts to chip or peel & that'll give you time to look for a set of gently used rims (most often will have tires already mounted). Going used will save you a ton of cash, keep an eye on the classifieds etc.
