I think what frustrates me far more than TFW's is Foreign Students taking Post-Secondary Education seats from Canadian Students, which allows foreign students to get a University Education in Canada and then return home to work using the degree they attained in Canada for the benefit of their home country.

You forgot, Leaving the country with out paying off their student loans, so they obtain an education on us. Also gotta love the ones that buy a luxury vehicle while here and than sell it cheap to some sucker only to stop making the payments and leave the buyer with a lean. Mean while their back in there own country laughing.

You are correct. Don't even get me started on this subject. The money I paid to put my daughter through 5 years of university. All the times we had to move her in and out of res and seeing the majority of people were from outside the country and they get a subsidized by your tax dollars education. SOB

Put it this way, my younger brother is currently in college in Kelowna, ~1000kms away, because there were no seats left in Alberta for the program he is taking, yet when I walk into the Grande Prairie College I see many Asian students that can't even speak English meandering the halls. How does that work? We as Albertans have now become second rate to foreign students? Sometimes I think we hand over anything of value to foreigners too easily, whether it be education, resources, or jobs.

It's not we, it's our corporate run governments!
Remember, once you elect them they get to do what they like to pay back their corporate puppet masters.

Im sorry but that right there is a complete bs comment. For starters look and the cost of living now wages have not come even close to following the inflation! We dont even make as much as they did in the 60s if you look at cost of living vs average income. And second who wouldn't want more ? You? I guess you would be the first guy to say no thanks I dont want that raise I make enough? You must be envolved with the government

I agree with you totally plus the guys we have at our shop pay no taxes for the first five years they are here . Pretty easy to work and get ahead on a lower wage with that little advantage.JMHO

I used to work at a site that stored repossessed vehicles. and you should have seen the trucks that these entitlement generation would get taken away from them... was funny actually. you can afford that fancy stereo, big dollar lift kit (fox shocks and all) big fancy wheels and tires, but then cant make the truck payment! These idiots just don't get it! hey my truck is 20yrs old now, and not that I wouldn't like a new one. I just cant afford that rite now. I cant afford a new sled either, I have to be happy with the one I have. Because I am into motorcycles that is where I have the newest rides I own. I worked hard for everything I have, and don't make the big bucks.. I wont say no to a raise, I get a modest one once a year, and I deserve it because I work hard every day!!! and it p***es me off that my taxes and EI payments are supporting the EI payments of people who are sitting on their ass because they wont take a 25hr job!

I don't disagree with what your sayin but does it piss you off that TFW get to work here and pay no taxes for the first five years they are here and still get to live here with all the advantages that your taxes are payin for. Guys that don't work in a high demand high payin trade and are not effected by the influx of TFW always bitch about the wages and sense of entitlement but never seem to look at both sides of the coin. We have TFW at our shop who are nice enough guys but honestly for the most part are lacking when it comes to the skills needed to do some of the more specialized tasks but seem to get treated differently and are in some cases given more leeway when it comes to inferior workmanship. Makes me wonder what is in it for the companies that are hiring all these TFW.

Don't get me wrong here. I am 100% against this stupid FWP. However I read recently that a welder in Canada can make 250 G's per year. It really is no wonder why the patch has their huge vessels built in Korea or some other cheap labor country then send the stuff over on a boat and truck it to F Mac. I'm guessing for 250 G's you could hire a lot of Phillipino welders. Just saying.

True enough but nobody seems to keep track of the cost of fixin the "FINISHED" vessels or tanks so that they can be put into service. It will always happen and the build cost will always look good on paper to some purchasing guy in a office somewhere but in the end in a lot of cases the finished cost in probalbly higher than if it was built within our borders from beginning to completion. Nobody is holding a gun to the heads of the companies doing the hiring and as stated earlier in the post nobody is going to turn down a raise. Are there people out there who take advantage sometimes and do have a sense of entitlement. Absolutely but to paint everyone with the same brush is wrong. And the guys makin 250 G's are more often than not spending large amounts of time away from their families in the bush and are highly skilled at their job. Not so easy to do or they would not be makin the big coin. And a regular 8 hr shift does not exist in their world. They make a lot of money but they work hard and sacrifice family time in a lot of cases. JMHO

the problem is they pay out the nose to go to the school... so that we pay a fraction... it's what makes University runs... my cousin went to UBC to be a dentist... got honours and his master's of science... still couldn't get into the program why? Cause you guessed it... it was full of TFstudents... so he applied to the USA got in got honours dropped 500k and parents re mortgaged the house which he is now paying them back for... crappy deal!

this after a 4 year career... not to shabby hey?????

Not going to argue the merits, but cutting costs on a couple jobs doesn't equal the costs of increasing hundreds of thousands jobs. Save a few million to spend a few billion.
