The bolt that holds the slider in place on the front of the rail broke. So my slider wrapped around the rear wheel. So we were able to get the slider back in place but couldn't get the front bolt back in. So we notched the rear of the slider for the wire and wire tied it. Lasted the rest of the day and down the trail. MacGiver would have been proud.

I always carry a little roll of wire. Very lite and doesn't take up much space. Can fix a lot with a little wire. Actually used the roll last trip also, guy dropped the wrench in the belly pan and we were able to fish it out with the wire.

Over the years we have done a few Mcgivers.
Shovel tied in where ski used to be before the tree.
Ski tied on kinda straightish using a hood cable.
Blaclava taped over missing part of airbox - once again a tree.
Vice grips clamped on to the steering post after bars ripped off with spark plug wrench jammed and taped on vicegrips for more steering leverage - no tree this time just a really bad landing.

Best one ever was when Mat blew his belt and cords took out crank seal on his doo - sled would not run or even fire up.
We pulled the clutch off (five of us and we used to pack a lot of tools) and cut a piece of emegency starter rope to lenght. Melted ends together with lighter and dunked repeatedly in oil tank. Slid it on the crank shaft with a semi loose fit. Cut the bottom off of an "empty can" then cut the center out so we had a washer to put over the new crank seal to reduce spinning the new seal.
Popped and ran a little rough but got us 25km out of an untowable area without leaning out motor.
It is amazing what you can fix when you pack a few "spare" items.
But some times dead is dead and we have towed a few out also.

Wire, tape various zip ties are also must haves.
Excellent fix on the hill.

Those rx1s did eat more than a few jack shaft bearings ...

Last year we had a turbo nitro blow its track off in a back bowl. Tandumed buddy out. Went back next day with 2 guys and a buncha tolls on 1 sled and a great big track box on my sled. Lit a fire, had a party and 4 and a half hours later she was a brappn!

About the only thing we havent done is swap a motor or tunnel. Clutches and chain swaps are way easier than towing.

We had a Nypex lose its starter in Allen Creek earlier this year. Checked everything we could think of but nothing. Dragging it out was not an option so the helicopter was next. We did have a 10' piece of rope and thought it would be a hail Mary and wrapped the clutch and pulled. Tried twice, realized we were pulling backward, switched it and started it. Pulling over a little 600 is one thing but a 4 cylinder 1000 is another. He rode it out and was all smiles. Did the same to a Pro later with a broken starter cord.
