well it is pretty lax hockey in general and that is why it IOC is considering taking it out as their is not enough competition from enough countries just canada and the usa. I am proud of them but at a professional best in the world event it is pretty sloopy hockey

I think that would be a huge mistake, womens hockey is really just stating to develope with a lot of small towns just establishing girls leagues in the last couple of years. Before that it was play with the boys till bantems and they were done for the majority of the players.

Canada won't be getting rid of it. Just possibly taking it out of the Olympics. It'll take awhile for the other countries to give some competition. It's bad hockey anyway. Also for those women to be out on the ice afterwards looking like total morons upset most Canadians. Nice role models they are for young girls, drinking beer, and wine out on the ice. Go back to the dressing room and do that. Never mind smoking cigars in a public place. Go out party and have a good time, just don't go looking like total idiots doing it.

I think it was cool, they were celebrating the moment in Canadian style,we love a good party, its not like they were doin shooters and smokin doobies, they had a beer and shared some Champagne, couple of puffs off a good cigar,oh no.As far as the younger kids go when my daughter asked Ijust told her if she worked hard all her life and acomplished her biggest goal she to deserves to celebrate to after that lifelong dream comes true. All the girls on the team but one is of age to drink, nobody complained when the skeleton guy walked threw Whistler with a beer in his hand, this world just needs to loosin up abit, well thats my opinion anyways:)

Hey scotts, your "old" is showing :d

Oh settle down, I'm just bugging you...

BUT... while we are on the subject:

Really, do you think that of all the cups and tournaments and titles that are won in all the men's professional and semi-pro hockey leagues across this country this has never been done before? I find it hard to believe. Men celebrate just as hard, but nobody tapes it and puts it on the air.

Come to think of it, you should look up some of the post-game footage of when the Bentley Generals won the Allen Cup last year. It was pure, unabashed and well-deserved celebration, involving alcohol and the likes, that was portrayed in the media as glorious and well-won (which it was, in my opinion).

But when the women do it, it is disgraceful?!?? I'm not much for all that feminism and equal rights crap that some girls get caught up in, but I'm thinking this is alot one-sided.

What about keeping the footage off the air and allowing a private celebration to remain private?!? What's disgraceful is the media's overwhelming need to latch onto every bit of footage that has even a whiff of scandal attached to it and run with it...

Just my two cents...

The IOC are a bunch of old school wads that need to lighten up a bit...

Come on, they were all of legal age to smoke tobacco and drink booze.... JAYZUZ!!

I am surprised that it was an issue in the first place....

I will spat with you....it was very distasteful from my view. I did not like seeing it, I do not mind them having a good time, go ahead, and party like I said...but do it else where..in the dressing room, whatever. Smoking in a public place...come on. And it's not like it was their first win, and all odds were against them to win. They beat all those other teams terribly, lol. Just the pictures made them all look terrible. They wouldn't have been taped smoking cigars if it was in the dressing room, or an after party somewhere. To me they acted more like immature brats. It was in fun, but the pictures looked terrible.....would have been way better if they would have been wearing bikinis..lol.

Like I said before, they never celebrated any differently than dozens of mens team have in the past. They just made for good headlines and got put on the news. Why publish the pictures?!? And yes, I disagree with smoking, I am a Respiratory Therapist! But the cigar thing is not exactly blatant smoking so much as it is an age-old tradition in view of celebrating.

Loosen up the nuts doohead, and live a little. Is your sled this tightly wound???

As for the bikinis? Its all good in theory, but as a female hockey player I will tell you that the all-girls dressing room fantasy is really just that: a fantasy. Some of those girls are downright manly... you think the public drinking and smoking pictures were bad?!? Bikinis on female hockey players are worse

Oh ya your right, the men party worse yet but they don't do it right there in front of the cameras for all kids to see. Well it's not the kids really, just maybe if there was more tasteful shots. I thought the pictures were terrible which make them look really bad. Believe me I have no problems what so ever with the celebration, just the way it was done, and the way the pictures looked.

My husband always asks if we shower together and I just tell him "Yes, with lots of cooing and sighing..." ;) The naked pillow fights only happen on away games. Does that help?
