That was near Saunders, but no I doubt it has anything to do with that.

It Is late in the season and the weather may not cooperate the best but there is a small group of us doing the ride Oct 2-3.

Starting on the Friday ? Most might be working...... would more be able to attend if you think about Thanksgiving weekend , or are too many doing the family thing then ?

I just happened upon the caboose and buildings this summer, and searching the internet for more information I found this thread (6 years late!).

Very neat! I'm curious - how do you know it's a school house? I figured one was definitely a house and the other one looked more barn-like but too nice for a barn so I figured it was another house. It seems a bit remote for a school - where were the kids coming from? I love a good historical mystery and can't find much about Lamoral online.

we have been there a few times...was told way back then it was a school house..there is great history around there..,,nordeg used to be the go to place..not rocky...back when the mine was going.. horburg was name for that exact reason..when the men got paid..off they went to horburg.. there used to be a woodmill on the trail too.. so days you can still see sawdust on the trail...near that truck door on the trail.....if you go past that caboose you might still find the flatdeck train car that is off the cliff kinda crunched up
..this is a excellent day ride..i cant wait to go back again..

There wasn't much snow at south fork on the 27 if that helps maybe 8-10" rode around a bit pulled the kids on a tube not enough to go for a ride
