Living here in Idaho, I bought a new F250-6.0L Diesel back in 04 and had no warranty issues until I got within 60 days of my 3yr. warranty expiration date. After filling up with fuel at a truck stop on the interstate, I was approx.40 miles down the freeway doing about 80 mph when the truck all of a sudden started to jerk and buck and lose power and slow down to 50mph and then I would pump the gas pedal like hell and then it would clear up for a few miles and then start doing it again so being out in the middle of nowhere at night I just kept going through this routine for another 100 miles or so until I finally mad it home...I might add that it was also blowing one hell of a smoke screen out the back where I couldn't see any headlights behind me...I called the truck stop and told them I thought they sold me diesel with water in it and told them what the truck was doing...They told me that they sell a very large of diesel (truckers) and have had no other complaints in that time period...The next day I dumped a gallon of diesel anti-gel conditioner in the tank and drained the water seporater under the frame rail and that didn't make much difference after a couple more days past. Finally it just up and quit and when it would start you had to floor it in park and it would just blow heavy smoke... I had it towed to the Ford dealer and told them everything and after leaving it with them for a half a day, they called me and told me it was sensor in the emissions system that was stuck closed, they fixed it and even paid the towing... I drove it for another 30 days or so and it started doing it again but only once in a while and then it would clear up... After about another week I decided to pop open the hood and see what was going on myself and noticed the antifreeze level was low so I added a gallon and a half and then checked it 2 days later and it was low again...I knew at that time this was trouble so I called the Ford again and they told me to bring it back in... When I got there I told them now it is using antifreeze and I want them to do a pressure test on the cooling system... They at first wanted to get out of doing this until I told them where I personally think this is leading to....Just what I thought...Blown head gasket and only 2-3 weeks left on warranty...They called Michigan and Michigan said they would pay the bill. I saw the invoice when I picked up the truck 2 weeks later...$5850 yiks!!! Plus the dealer put me in a new F350 to drive as a loaner for the 2 weeks my rig was down...They really took care of me and I just barely dodged the bullet on the warranty by a couple of weeks... Of course they do want me to buy a new F250 next time I'm around....

final diagnosis was the oil cooler. I had the egr cooler delete done at the same time so after the good-guy discount, the bill was $3400 bucks. Now I'm just praying that the head gasket doesn't go. Oh well. If it has breasts or wheels, it will cost you.

Goin through the same damn thing, pretty bad when the state of Texas filed a lemon law against Ford and ending up winning. 6.0L what a joke!!

Just wish I would have done the oil cooler when I did the EGR delete...
