Good day everyone. As the season is getting underway, it is time to start a new thread for the 2019/20 riding season at Cataract Creek. Although this is an open forum, if you are a member of the Calgary Snowmobile Club, please refer to TeamSnap for more exclusive information about the club and upcoming activities.

Well aware of that.

I thought typically the club will be out earlier with trail clearing, etc or someone might have taken a cruise down to the parking lot for a peak is all.

Haha all good! I remind people all the time as well since I don't want the area getting closed lol.

Hello all,

We have never visited the cataract area. I'm assuming it would be decent for snow bikes?

It's my first year going 100% bike, and I'd like to test it out somewhere closer than revy or Fernie haha.

Cheers

I've seen a few snowbikes down there but not many. Depends what you are looking for, since it's a trail system you are supposed to stick to the trails legally. In my experience with rental snowbikes they were alot more fun off trail than on lol (at Revy). Just posted some directions and a map in the "new guy no clue" thread if you need it.

Just saw that post. Thanks for the info.
Yea, the bikes aren't the best on trail.
I didn't know it was a "trail only" area, as some of the pics I've seen are definitely off trail haha.

No day passes, just annual ASA. Calgary snowmobile club website has a buy online option. Not mandatory but greatly appreciated by the club of course.

Cataract Creek is officially restricted to only vehicles registered as Snowmobiles. I suspect that is because in the past when it was created, they wanted to ensure that no one was riding quads or motorbikes there during low snow years. However it does mean that your snow bike isn’t ‘legal’. Whether that is an issue probably depends on whether anyone is out checking and ticketing.

They post up all the trail maintenance stuff on the TeamSnap app now. Do you have it?

No. You would think it would be on the website so everyone can find out info. Nothing happens when you click trail maintainence.
