not maxing out rpm 2001 800 zx

01 800 redid motor new crank pistons etc compression good 7500 rpms max primary clutch checked out set at 5 shouldn't have to do that. Any ideas I am leaning toward exhaust always been a problem with that sled(leaks around y pipe and tuned exhaust). Where should a guy buy a y pipe and tuned exhaust or does anyone know of a good used pair(ypipe and tuned exhaust) also does a set from 2003 800 work I believe they have a donut there. Thanks in advance for help.

this is about the same issue im having with my 02 700. will not hit top rpm. i know my expansion chamber has a pin hole leak or two. i would be very interested in seeing where to get new parts!

have you dismantled both the primary and secondary clutches for inspection, my bet is there is a clutch issue if the motor sounds good just wont reach rpm. Your exhaust would need a big hole in it to affect it that bad, and it would run rough and smoke alot
