x3 on Rapid Revolutions. They are doing a few different things with my Maverick as we speak. I always get a real good product and finish from them.

I would stay away from the " sled first" shops imo. No offence but they don't understand the whole mud / big tire thing .most of them do not lnow the needs of a SXS rider. In most cases it is just away to make extra $ in the slow season....
In short they are not as passionate about SXS s as they are sleds.... Most of these sled shops only know about adding turbos and power... They don't get the axle/ snorkel / havoc etc that mud and dirt do to a machine!

Stick with some one who knows the type of riding you do.... Just because you know your sleds does not make you an expert in the SXS world...

You are right that they are a different beast than a sled but before you through some of us shops under the bus you should do your home work first. Funny you mention that we dont get how they work because my mechanics have Canam and Polaris training and we all have atv and or sxs and my one journeyman tec races motocross . I've been on qauds dam near as long as sleds an i personally built my commander for mud riding and i think i have a good idea how they work but thanks for the bashing.

? We have sent some stuff to mountain magic before... and some of my friends have had work done there before and its second to none. I think opinion or not... That was a very uneducated generalized comment..... If anything I would rather take my stuff to a shop that does more than one thing becuase I know they will be around longer. Have watched a few places go under here trying to be a one sided specialty shop... Doesn't work. Mountain Magic is just a name.... They have had it forever... Specialty Auto used to be specialty Sleds...... I can open a garage and put a cardboard sign above the door that says "COMMANDER MUD SHOP" but I promise you the quality of work wont be close the thiers. "dont understand the whole mud and big tire thing".... What kind of idiots do you think they are? lol.

This has nothing to do with any particular shop !!! Did I mention ANY names ????? MY opinion is you are better served by a shop who is used to working on that specific item ,not a host of different machines .........
I really dont give a FAWK who takes what where.............REALLY.

I would take my work to a shop that deals with the same stuff ,all day every day............They understand it, get it ETC. They know the weak points, BECAUSE they have the experiance, they see hundreds all year long..........!!! I am sure the above shop has great mechanics (and many other shops too !)
THATS NOT THE POINT THOUGH.............
The key word above is ....." I "

I think since a lot of the tech in our modern mud machines was derived from sleds, eg. turbos, high hp four strokes and belt drives. it really probably doesn't matter much as long as the shop has a good rep and good technicians.

Easy boys it not that big of deal just when you read a lot of post from the U.S. It's big time atv and shops that know the ins and outs about issues not that the dealers doesn't just that there is more than one way to skin the cat I know ken quite well at mm and would not hesitate to give him my cash for what he puts his hands on

I did not want to " get into in any way " but it is easy to see who s who on here............so often. LOL
In terms of big shops (DEALERS ETC)vrs the little shops .........please answer me this ?
Why are the labor rates way higher?
Why are there so many complaints about the work performed?
Why does a set of tires / rims cost a third more at the BIGGER shops ?
Why do aftermarket parts cost WAY more at the bigger dealers ?

This might have a lot to do with the reason the "bigger " places are around for ever.........lol
None the less that is a topic for another day.

It sure is interesting on here, what OPINIONS are okay and other ones that are not quite as welcome.........shall we say.

Im going to get out of here after this... But I can tell you for sure... Any shop around edmonton that is going to try and go STRICTLY mud.... has already gone out of buisness... or is on thier way out of business. I can list a few in the past year... But I dont think I have to. Just keep an open mind. cheers.

I never said strictly mud / more so quad & SXS vrs sled only.....was more of my point. The fact is though that mud is a major
cause of most work performed on a SXS / quad . When a shop sees this every day , they become well versed in what works/what does not. What to look for , what mods work, what does not.....
in the same sense a sled shop does the same in there field....

For an example I would say Rapid rev has made a good business and do a good job of looking after atv/SXS riders for years.....would the top mountain sledders on here take their sled there for custom mods ??

i think not.....
