I had a 2012 Polaris and bought a xm this year and in my opinion the xm is a way better sled in terms of performance and handling. You don't notice the extra weight at all. My only compliant about switching is the doo is not nearly as durable as my Polaris was. The pro front end was built way stronger and when you did bend something it was just an a-arm instead of twisting up the whole sled. Only other thing is the etec uses more oil than the polairs too.

Polaris made it work? BRP does and changes pipe also. So now you have to buy another $450.00 muffler as your 2013,2014 will not work. Nice??


Remember though polaris is only meeting EPA standards and noise standards for a 145hp motor, not a 162.5hp etec.

the heavier stock pipe benefits brp buyers cause moast of them buy a can to put on reducing the sled weight by over15 lbs (just an estimate) and the polaris buyer buys a can and doesn't save any weight or maybe 2-3 lbs.any way not like anyone with half a brain doesn't know this ….skidoo is better just buy one!!!Or not!!!doesnt matter

No it doesn't. And some aircraft quality adhesive would be welcome in the Ski-Doo camp.

X2. Except keep the glue in your model plane set where it belongs. Although I know the cost would be higher, I'd rather see stronger lighter components assembled properly without glue and clamps for weight savings.
I also believe they could make a race air box that doesn't meet the noise standards they have that would work and be lighter. Along with some lighter LED headlights I bet they could save at least 8 lbs.
There already are options for lighter cans.

Funny, we rode 350 km last saturday, my 12 pro used over a litre and a half of oil, my buddies 14 XM used under a litre and his wife's 12 freeride used about the same.

You can shed about 7 pds on the polaris changing from a stock muffler to a can like a HPS or MBRP. Weighed both when I changed them. The 14 cat sheds about 16 going from stock to an HPS. Now that I sold the 14 cat I am waiting to put some more time on a doo before either buying one or going back to a pro. The pro was a very well balanced sled that took no effort to sidehill or boondock compared to the 14 cat I bought and sold. I dont know firsthand what the doo is like as I havent spent enough time on one like I have on the poo and cat.


I will say this tho.....its hilarious to read what guys will say about how much better their brand is when its all they have owned or spent any time on. Jumping on a buddies sled for half an hour or even a day is not enough to judge any brand. Unless you have spent a few hundred miles on one and been in all the different situations that we encounter on different days, different snow packs, weather, you will never get comfortable enough to change from the habits you have from one brand to the next.

If all you have ridden is one brand of sled keep your comments to yourself about the other brands until you put your money where your mouth is....your comments mean nothing to the rest of us.

AND if you watched one guy on one brand out climb or out sidehill another guy on another brand that means very little also! different skill levels will show different results!!!!

Seems to me a weight reduction is the main ingredient or guys who build aftermarket parts wouldn't use CF or Titanium. There had to be more of a reason. Are they focusing on other areas to offset the weight?

Either way, you can't go wrong with a Doo or a Poo. I've owned both, and ridden both new ones for a day +

They are both good............ and they are both bad.

ya.. 10 extra hp, t motion skid to assist in making a heavier sled feel like a lighter sled, an
d that MASSIVE flipper they just added for traction. i would say they are refining and trimming the XM chassis slowly and we will continually see 5-10lb weight losses every season. and i think with this 174 3" track they are setting themselves up for adding an aditional 10-15hp out of the etec in a future realease. THAT would be a monster.

ok so i've riden more than a few ...

I sled snowboard as do most of my peeps, thus I've riden all my buddies sleds.

turbo pro, turbo 4stroke cat with 280hp, several 2013xm sp in 154,163,2014 freerides, turbo yamys, and all sorts of other older sleds.

we all prefer the 2013 sp over the 2014 freeride ... weird eh, it deff flexs more with 2 guys on it, but it feels free ... ride ...

freeride is stiff ... but takes a beating ...

pro ... ??? damn its flickable ...

light ... prob da lightest ...

but buddy's 2012 pro is on its 3rd motor and he's lucky to get 700 km a season.

forget a few pounds ... I'll take reliability anyday !!!

we want turn key pull and go all season and the next ...

I know of guys that don't want to ride with pro's coz they don't want to two them out ...

just some random rambling ...
