Maybe there is just not enough payback from expensive shows. Read that Volvo, Audi and Mercedes will not be displaying at the Montreal SIAM show. Apparently Mercedes has said no to ALL North American shows, and yet they are the best selling luxury brand. Volvo also out of Toronto's CIAS. 2019 Detroit NAIAS show didn't have Audi, BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mercedes, Mitsubishi, Porsche, Volvo.

Its almost like a form of blackmail. I asked our owner why would you pay $20,000 for a small booth to showcase SeaDoo's at the Calgary Boat Show, pay employee wages, passes and people to transport units from the store to the Round Up Centre to sell 20 SeaDoo's? He said you have to be there if the competion is there. You have to stay in the publics eye all the time even if you lose money.

Has anybody asked the local Cat dealers? Who's left in Edmonton...Argyle and Alberta Cycle?.....Terry - T&T?
I'm sure they have an answer.

Did Textron drop the Edmonton show from their budget?
Or did the closing of a couple local dealers leave no one to pick up the ball?...Echo / BOS

certainly, there must be some dealer reps on this site....lets hear from you guys.....why were you not there?

I agree with SnoPro, out of site slowly becomes out of mind......

Looks like they weren't at Puyallup either. A local dealer was but not the full factory display and that is a much bigger show than Edmonton.

I talked to Terry Thursday before the show. He knew cat wasn't there, but didn't know why. They keep him in the dark as much as us I think.

Don hasn’t had a booth at the Edmonton sled show for like 4 years, too expensive and loses money every time or barely breaks even, so why bother, last show they went to was Saskatoon show a few years ago. Don and Shane usually go to the sneak peak still and Don does the swap meet but that’s it

I just ran across this article in the latest issue of snow tech. It basically says Cat is pressing the re set button for the 19 / 20 model year. Reducing dealer network size and trimming personnel, basically getting rid of as much old stock to get back to profitability. And as it says they are not for sale and still committed to snowmobiles and providing new product going forward
