I want to get started in dirt biking. Nothing competitive just training for road racing. What bike should I start with and where can I ride in Edmonton just for fun? What do I need in terms of spare parts? Gear? Any information is great.

how much do you weigh? how tall are you?

for a first bike i would reccomed a ttr 125 if it fits you good , powerful , not the fastest , i jumped mine with no problems , you would not need spare parts for it they are to reliable and excellent on fuel!!!

GOOD LUCK!

I had a ttr it is okay great beginner bike. With in 1 week you would want something with some more balls. I had the ttr and i was jumping it and i crack the fram right in half. Then i got the ttr 230 looking for more power not reeally there. Got the yz 125 theres a bike with balls. Rcae bike made for the track and good for raceing. But the lots of work got to have her pinned all the time, have to rebuilt top ends, mix oil. If i where you just get a 250 or even 450 four stroke.

Thats not even a chick bike! We have better taste than that! lol
As others have said until we know age, experience, and size we cant give you the best advice! Havent you read other posts from joey! It seems as though he has a special touch for anything he owns! Everything Joey touches is better than anybody elses and has double the power, speed and capability! You could say....he works miracles?!

well yah because you guys ride the other brands so anything I ride (yamaha) its obviously gonna be better!! YAMAHA ROCK!

the ttr is not a chicks bike , if you think that you must ride something literally out of this world to make that crazy beast look like a chicks bike!!! that bike smoked our bruin , bro's honda 200 , phazer (little bit of dirt on the rode and snow in the ditch for the sled) , pe 175. know way in hell is that thing gutless!

but yah until we know age...........

So this bike goes over 100mph?? because you said your phazer did over 100mph right?? I dont think so... My buddie had a TTR 125 and it was pretty gutless.. might be a good beginner bike but not for long. good luck with the bike LegitXOrXQuit

the ktm 144 would be a good bike,

and joey every bike needs spare parts, its always nice to have spare chains and sprockets as it ruins a weekend when you find out the sprocket is fuggered and you cant get parts till tuesday, and if you only changed one fuel filter you didnt maintain well, ever 15 hours of ride time you should normaly change oil and filter as well as a fuel filter, if you do that and keep vavles in spec (4 smoke) and power vavles clean and top end good ( two smoke) you will always have a great reliable bike, just gotta watch it, and its always good to turn a wrench on any vehicle everyday to make sure ever things good and tight

yah i changed the oil on it regularily (ttr 125 does not have an oil filter) but i did not know you have to change a fuel filter regularily:eek: but now i will! and yes , now i reccomend a ktm , good bikes!
