My thoughts

Questions for the Rhino veterans

I was able to get 70 kph before it hit the rev. limiter Is that OK?

Yes for now, IMO look into an MSD as it will remove the reverse limiter and and increase top rpm.

I could go anywhere in high range ie: hill climbing, jumping good size logs, muskeg crossing etc. no lack of power. Will the engine get better with time, or is it broke in from the factory, and it is what it is?

This is how I do it with mine EVERY time I go for a ride, once it has warmed up, I drive it hard, vary the rpm taking it for a rip before I hit the trails for a couple minutes,..cause I am usually the first one unloaded and ready to go, then when everyone is reary just drive normally. Then when I am done riding for the day I let it cool for 5min idling while I get trailer ready then load it. Everyone is different but I would ask Terry then if you have engine problems he can worry about it :d

I know the stock tires are weak, but they took me anywhere I wanted to go.
The mudzilla's on my Grizzly made a huge difference, but with the additional weight of the Rhino it seems to go quite well as is.

Clutch kit, probably secondary gold spring with primary 18gr rollers(including covers), different tires will make a HUGE difference

Any additional info is welcomed
Thanks Don

I would look into installing an engine temperature and voltage gauge, I like knowing how things are going and not relying on idiot lights.

Almost forgot one of the most important things,.. switch to some powersports synthetic engine oil after your break in for your first oil change. I use amsoil powersports 0w-40 all year round.

Check engine oil BEFORE each ride.

Thanks guys for all the info. There is a ton of goodys to buy as long as you have the cash, Terry did give me some advice and it goes along with the info you have given me. I will work on the KISS principal and do the tires, eliminate the reverse limiter and maybe just a bit more giddyup.

Thanks
Don

Hey guys what's the deal with greasing the drive shaft? Where do you grease? I haven't heard anything about this before.

theres a zert on the drive shaft ujoint and its a treat to get to.. there fore special tool makes it easier

T

Great I suppose it requires removal of the plastic belly protection or is there an inspection hole to get at it?

Also while on route to my daily afternoon deer grounds I noticed when locking up in 4x4 I now have more vibes and maybe a bit of growling noise. I checked the bolts on the front diff and didn't see any loose or missing. Should I be getting this thing looked at.

Sorry for the hi jack on this thread.

Open the hood and look at the U joint that goes into the front dif. you will see the grease fitting on that joint.

Well guys I have about 250 km on the rhino now and I have a couple of questions.

The motor seems to be vibration free at idle but when off idle it has a lot, and seems rough.

Is it normal to be sooo loud ie: engine and chassis noise. At different speeds it gets smooth, but more rough than I think it should be, at some rpm it feels like the floor boards are rattling loose under my feet.

In saying that it doesn't skip a beat, but I thought it would be better.

Thanks
Don

Normal,.. mine seems to be quiet and smooth around 8-10kph then skips and does the same around 15-18kph.

In low range if and when I use it, it really vibrates and is noisy, but I have learned to live with it cause IMO I just love riding my machine. I don't fret the small stuff.

Thanks for the reply fellows, like I said it doesn't skip a beat, but it is the way it is, I will live with it and be happy driving it.

I don't notice any vibes or noise until I lock it into 4x4. Then it vibes and gets noisy. I've heard they all do that.

Hay guys going on a little fun run on saturday if you're interested, approx 50 - 60 km, long lake, to Criket lake to Amisk lake to the big pipeline and home. Leave by 11.00, home by around 3.30. can't go sliding guess we'll go 4 wheeling.

We'll keep it simple

Well guys I ordered a rear window from Royal dist and received it today, what a differance in the noise level in the cab area, it acts like a curtain and buffers the low pitch from the exhaust and also keeps it warmer in the cab. Win Win to me, 92.00 delivered to Boyle post office .
This thing is a riot to drive in a foot of powder.

See you on the trail
