Full disclosure: Ford guy here. But if you really want the best pulling 1/2 ton the ecoboost can't be beat by any gasser
It really is like an older diesel in its power curve. Tons of low end torque. Any 1/2 ton v8 will rev like crazy to pull any sort of weight. I've had chev 6.0, and several ford 5.4's even a dodge but it was small v8. Gas mileage is better than my last 5.4 but not super. If towing is what you want the ecoboost is hard to beat.

2007 Toyota tundra with 235000km on it. No major repairs at all and I use it for work. Its gets beat. The only downfall is the fuel economy sucks. My brother has a 2007 tundra and had to put a new/ used engine in at 300,000km. He drives really hard though and pulls a massive 5th wheel. Im surprised it made it to 300,000km.

I have to agree with you...the tundra gets crappy fuel economy. the good part is I don't put lots of miles on ever year because I live where I sled, camp, hunt.fish etc so i don't have to go to the mountains because I live in the mountains .and unless i install air bags I don't think I can legally put a 2 place deck on the truck.

LOL good one.
