New truck for towing

How's the mileage on your gas when not towing Maxwell? I'm thinking about getting one to replace my halfton that does my lighter towing and daiky winter driving. I'm not liking much of the halfton offerings these days and the price is basically the same as a 2500.... better tans and no AFM either.

I'm also thinking having a 3/4 ton with a 5th wheel prep pack Would be good to have around in case I get unto a pickle and my diesel is in the shop or something random.

I always seem to have a logistical ch!t show when I'm busy.

Not Maxwell, but I have a 24 2500 4x4 with the 6.6 gas / Allison auto as a company truck, and I baby that thing. Averages 19.7 L / 100 km on highway (empty), driving respectably. With a small trailer it's 33L / 100 km. In perspective, my personal 22 Ram 3500 does 11.5 L/100 km highway empty, and 16.5L / 100 km pulling my 12000 lb 5th wheel (this is a 6.7 HO diesel with an Aisin trans). Both are nice trucks, but when I'm spending my own $$$ I'll buy the Dodge...

You ever hand calculate your Cummins mileage?

You'd be the first I ever heard of to get sub 20 l/100km with that size of fifth wheel. I average 22l/100km behind my 6.7 Powerstroke.

I’m 18-22l/100 on my Cummins towing. Never seen any better unless there’s tail wind.

It’s about 15% better than my old 6.0. But it’s still not great by any means. I get about 700-750km on a tank that’s 135L. Granted I’ve never ran it out so not a true calculation for L/100

I have a 2020 7.3 ford 3/4. Driving to the same sled area with the same trailer and sleds it gets 30% better mileage than my 6.0 gmc with far more power.

I tow a 35’ 5th wheel with my 18 ram 3500 diesel, it’s about 12,000lbs loaded up, I get 19L/100 or better 90% of the time while towing it and about 11-12 L/100km empty, fully stock truck. Calculated in my head or by the computer, get basically the same number, not rocket science

I haven't on the 22. But I did it many times on my 01 , 03 , 07 , 14 , and 16 3500's. The 22 HO is super quiet, has lots of power (better then my 07 which had a full delete, exhaust, and smarty jr tune), and thus far has been the best one on fuel. Truck has 3.73 gears, and I'm seldom under 115-120km/hr towing. My 16 and 14 were around 19.5 - 22.5 L/100 km towing...

I know methanol sure takes a lot more volume to make power, can't see ethanol being that much different.

I know guys in that states that run E85, sure it make more power than pump fuel but you go through a lot more of it.

Kinda like diesels with DEF, burn 30% more fuel to save on emissions

15l/100km on the highway, 16l/100km if I'm doing 125km/h. I average 20L/100km back and forth to work. Yeah 37's and a 6" Lift.
