Just picked up a 2008 M1000 162 all stock just an MBRP can for a smoking deal, sled is in unreal condition with 3500 kms on it but needs some work, it needs a dimond drive, secondary clutch. And new track. Never owned an arctic cat before so asking what people options are and what the best route to go by.

Im told 2008 was the bad year for dimond drives ? So do i...

Buy a new stock dimond drive ? Or a BDX dimond drive dose it fix the problem ? Track im not worryed about ill probley run a powder claw a camo extreme 162 . Stock tracks a 2 1/4 lug can i run a 2.5 lug with stock drivers ? Or do i gotta drop a tooth ?

Also do i put a new top end in it ? 3500 kms.

Whats the best stock set up on these sleds for clutching. Gearing ect? It has an MBRP can and shorty tall seat. I know lots of venting is a must.

Any helps appriciated
Thanks!

I put a rk torsion secondary on my m1000 and it worked good! If you want that sled to run the best just put regular fuel in it not premium. M1000 ran way better with regular. I got a y pipe I will sell for a case of beer!

One thing to consider if you run the bdx diamond drive you have no reverse.

57/63 gearing and a torsional conversion. You can run a 3" track on stock drivers. BDX Diamond Drive Lite also needs a different track shaft. The $$$ add up quick. You should be able to find these parts used for a decent deal now as the sleds are worth more in parts than complete. The high torque DD gears are noisey but ended all the DD problems on my TM1000. Not sure if there's a set for the stock DD though. Also check the motor mounts, they hammer out pretty easy on the '08s. The '09s and up had a much better Duro mount.

The 1000's are monsters power wise. You should look for a 2.6 claw or 3" claw for it

When you're ready for more power throw an SLP single pipe set and a fuel controller on there. Mine freakin' ripped! Wish I still had it. :wtg:

You will also need a 174 3",carbon fibre hood, diamond drive lite, billet primary cover, billet spider, porting by Linderman, linderman motor mount ,anti slop steering, exit rear shock,36" Alt impact front end,ice age rails ,ice age pro motion, running boards, v force reeds, gripper skis, and most importantly a muff pot. Orrrrrrr you can buy my sled for $7500 and save your self about $15000. Has 1000 miles on it. The m1000 is a beast.

I PM'd you my number about the clutch, give me a shout if you want as I've got lots of 1000 parts. I'm on my 4th 1000 build right now.

I've had a M1000 since 08 and will be riding one again this season.
One mod I recommend is to get Diamond Drive Lite and change out wiring harness and Ecu to a newer 2010-11.
Gets rid of a lot of moving mass weight but able to have reversing motor.
As for clutching I would stay away from torsional,I've had some bad luck going that way running boost.
The best mod I ever did to the liter is boost.
This sled has the power of a boosted apex with out the weight.
I run a Twisted Turbo set up with Boost It fuel control.
Three seasons and all is still good.
If you are thinking about boost I do have a complete new Twisted kit with Boost It box for your sled in stock.
