New to quading

Hey guys,
New to quading. I am in the market for a Side X side but i dont know where to begin. I would love that Turbo S or a X3 72" but since i never been in trails in Alberta i am lost on what to get. I have a campground membership at wilderness village in Rocky so I think ill do most of riding there.
Any suggestions? Thank for all your input

Got to get what you like.
Mine is 56" wide and at times I wish I was narrower.
I also find my ground clearance too low. I seem to high center a lot.
But what feels good is what you should get.

Thx RXN, that actually does help. I guess 72" is way too wide. Whats your ground clearance? I have a feeling a 4 seater is out of the question. might have to go with 2 2 seaters. I dont want to constantly worry about high center.
Ill definitely get what i love but i need to also be aware of what makes sense for the trails. I love the RZR turbo S, but im thinking that is not reality in these trail systems. So input like yours will definitely help me make a decision.

My ground clearance is just over 10"

My dad has an 09 RZR.he has a little more then an inch clearance on me. And is 3" narrower.

The other thing to consider. Are you trailering or hoping to toss it in the box of your truck so you can still pull a trailer?

Mine barely fits. And puts my GVWR to its max.

Ya i considered all those choices. But i just recently purchased a membership at wilderness village. So ill be quading in rocky right from the resort and if I want to go west of rocky ill just put it on the trailer and drive 45 min to ride there. I also have a 8' box which is great but i also need to have comfort and stability. I am 400 lbs and have a really bad back. So anything with a good suspension your looking at 64" Wide. That wont fit in the box of the truck and i am not putting it on top of the cab.
Nice pic, I sure hope i dont get anywhere those mud holes. will try and avoid at all cost.

Only ha e 400 km on Havoc X

Stick with 64”. 72” will fit down some trails but not all. You can get a rzr XPT or X3 in a 64” wide if you’re looking for that type of machine.

There are a few nice machines out there that are 64" wide. Too bad there not built as strong as that new Rzr Turbo S. I am looking at that XPT with maybe the dynamix. I also might look at that new wildcat. Man so many choices
Type of machine I want is something that will fit in all trails, great stock suspension, comfortable and wont break on me. (Of course if I drive like a dumb ass i cant expect it to not break)

That new wildcatt XX sure looks amazing. I might have to see that one in person.
I sure am planning on enjoying it. Since I never drove a SXS in my life i am going to the jamboree tomorrow in rocky. Hopefully I can test out a few machines and see how the trails are. Because as of right now I am a noob and never seen a trail in Alberta.

I have the XPT and ride with 3 X3’s. I’m at 1400kms with my machine and it has been the best sxs I’ve owned out of the two. I’m getting close to doing the brakes. Smoked a couple belts but only changed them as preventative maintenance. Just went through the machine again. All bearing and bushings are like new but I also greased the hub bearings when new and a few times since. Stay away from the 2016 XPT. Stay away from the rzr 1000, 900 etc. X3’s have been good. Get a belt guard as when they go they can take out the cover. They are generally a good machine. The front diff lock isn’t the best but they have lockers out there for them. I’ve been down the wildcat route and won’t return. I won’t get into that here. The RS1 is a great machine as well. Good price. Same components as the XPT and the turbo s front diff.

Ill stay away from those for sure. That RS1 is really nice. I would love that but were a family of 3. So i got to figure out how to do this without getting in a 4 seater. Get a cheaper sxs for my wife and daughter and the RS1 for me perhaps

if you are looking for a sxs for three, and a very capable machine look into the kawasaki terx 4 seater, BIL loads his into his pickup. carries 4 comfortably, has good power , has had no major issues, 3yr warranty(maybe 7), ridersmet on the trails love them. price is good, lots shorter in length and wheel base than all other 4 seaters out there, thus very few hang ups on trails. my recommendation. although my BIL doesn't sit in mud holes and see how high the engine will rev.

Another vote for Kawi Teryx4. Our 2014 has been flawless for over 2000km now, goes almost anywhere bone stock.

of the 4 that i know of, who own the kawasaki terex 4 seater, no major problems, other than self induced. go anywhere, good power, have almost all the good aftermarket accessories already from the factory. very good alround SXS.

for outwest riding, a small lift helps immensely, as well as a bit more aggressive tire( Zilla's). also a 4000 -4500 lb winch.
best to pull out winch when stuck, as i have heard sitting in a mud puddle revving the engine can result in motor go bang, then a bunch of whining to dealer for warranty LOL. don't be that dumbazz!

Had good luck with Riverside sales on the Honda side, but the service is horrible. (exact opposite on the Yamaha side - great service, chitty sales) I'd recommend Gibbons Motortoys.

Ill have to call them and see if they still have it. They are hard too find.
On the weekend i went to a jamboree close to rocky and they had demos there. So i was able to try 3 different sxs. tell you what it definitely gave me alot to think about and definitely have a feel for the trails now.

Took a look on Kawasaki website. Its a nice orange and it looks pretty good. But i could find any information on the shocks or anything else really. But I love that 3 year warranty.
I love how the wheelbase is pretty short for a 4 seater. That's the main reason i was shying away from a 4 seater because i didn't want to hook up anywhere, but this one might just do the trick. Now I have to go sit in one to see if I fit. Thx for the info because I would of never looked at a kawasaki.

That makes alot of sense. sparring your motor when your stuck. You got the hitch use it, thats what its meant for.
What do you mean about a small lift, like a jack for when your hooked up or a lift kit to raise your sxs so its easier to get around
How aggressive are those zillas. Because this weekend i tested a mud machine and the threads were very aggressive but the ride was ****. With my bad back i had to pull over and jump into another machine and the difference was night and day.
