New Sled Warranty ...Do you purchase a new sled for the reassurance? And Why?

My first newer sled '98 mountain max was a demo from a dealer here in town... First new sled was my 06 1000rt 162".. Flawlessly owned til this year(new engine within a year - warranty - broken crank).... New sled this year 15 t3 174" with 4 year warranty.... Might keep it for a year or two, or will buy a new one if some changes made to the 2016 t3 ... Love this sled and flawless so far too . The rt1000 was 9 years old and was still "mint", even with some damage I had to repair .

Did the same, two year warranty in my case. Wanted a warranty because I am in Whistler in the winter and don't have a place to work on it if I had issues.

New is the best way to go and not just for the warranty. You know exactly what you have. Every used sled I have bought needed some work done on it to make it right and reliable. I just don't like "duct tape fixes". I actually like working on sleds and time isn't a concern (seeing as how I'm retired :d) but electronics are getting more complicated all the time.

unless win the lotto, will never be able to buy new again, 2 mortages.last Nov 8-12 lost my garage and 40 yrs worth of tools. my ole faithful 92 500 EFI with 16,000 miles. they paid me $500 for it after the $1000 deductable, had no fire on my 98 Gold Wing, had every thing else on it ? they said Fire is not included in Full Coverage? and they overpaid me for the 05 Yamaha Quad ? anyway.garage is rebuilt on a budget. had to put dam near $10,000 on the CC on top of the $20,000 Insurance paid me to rebuild a $60,000 garage .

my first New sled was a 71 Elan 250 then a 73 Olympic 399 then a 79 Pol 340 TXL a 80 Ski-Doo MX5500 , then the last new one was a 89 Indy 500 Classic, was demo from Cycle Works, put 3900 miles on it that winter, got the high mileage trophy from the Trailblazers.sold it. then only used sleds since then. 4 yrs ago bought the best one yet. Alex Mainwellers old 92 Indy 500 EFI. Last spring bought a well used 2003 Indy 600 RMK, was too modified for my liking, now have another 92 Indy 500 EFI . like to buy a Polaris Rush someday. for my bad back, they are supposed to be best riding trail sled made.

First sled was a new 1979 JD Trailfire 440. Second sled was a new 1980 JD Liquifire. Third sled was a new 1981 JD Liquifire, the 80 engine blew. Sold the 81 to a friends sister, bought it back 8 years later, still have it, not looking too good these days though. Quit sledding for many years till my son took an interest in it, he got tired of starting the JD so bought himself a used 98 583 Summit. A couple years later (2011) I got interested and bought a used 08 Summit, yup, been working on it. Needed 3 machines so my other son could ride with us so bought a cosmetically mint 2000 600 Summit with dead cylinder, fixed it, used it and just sold it (hated to see it go). I think I am on 5 now, fifth sled purchased a year ago is a 14 Assault, think I got a reasonably good deal on it but felt extended warranty was too expensive, got a week or so left. If I keep it I will be doing the top end soon, hopefully before a failure.

Bought a new truck in 2011, first new vehicle in 20 years, didn't buy extended warranty for it either.

I buy new or near new and usually void my warranty in the garage shortly after. For me I don't have time to rebuild, fix problems already excising with the sled. This is however the way I feel because of the brand I ride. Other brands or models have better reputations.

lost mine years ago and I can say it just plain sucks a$$. I'm just getting past the what I think I have and what I lost. you never really know what you have or had till it gone.

i had 3 estimates of around $60,000 to rebuild a 24 by 28 garage w a 7 ft ceiling ? Insurance paid me $21,000 and paid the clean up crew of 3 $39.000 to throw my tools away? adjustor said they would take all tools to there shop,clean up what they can and return em,, Great. they returned nothing..I got $1500 for 40 yrs of tools. miss my special sled tools the most. 2 friends and I built a 30 by 28 14 ft ceiling from discarded 2x8s. and tin from a large building that didnt like the color. half the insulation was free. wiring came from Amazon, 1/4 price of here.? switch and plugs all free from sisters reno on here new to her house. didnt like color? all the drywall all free . was cut wrong size. 54 in by 12 ft. who cares if wrong size, we worked around the size. then put a Princess Auto 10,000 lbs 2 post hoist in.. Oh. I fell off the ladder coming down from the mezzaneen second week in the build. had surgery on leg and ankle., and finished it in a cast ...didnt work all summer and had no insurance for the accident.. so the old Credit card got well used this yr...but we are surviving on Canada Pension and working on sleds,cars , I am licenced mech. the hoist is sure nice for lifting sleds outta trucks.

kenvb, Do you hook the handlebars of the sled to the arms on the hoist and then the orange ratchet straps to the back of the sled?
