verdict is still out on this.. there is some hype about it but no real world testing as such... i will probably here something thru the channels i know once this is tryed by the performance shops down in the US... if i hear anything i will let ya all know. i have heard it is being tested in the desert series of racing... i will be in contact with S3 and ask Dustin Jones about what he knows.

It was just tested at MOAB ,vids are out ...a great lace to test true 4 wheel drive / rock climbing .
Looks good / worked great . I hear good feedback .
Alex Reed CT raceworks snapped up the distributorship for it ...
And Alex is a pretty knowledgeable guy .
I think it will be a game changer & they will sell a ton of them for the X3 .
As they just don't lock up at all ... real world.

yes , lol, i just watched that video last night matter of fact... Yes Alex is a good guy.. knows his stuff. I did talk to Dustin Jones of S3 Racing and he has used there product in a jeep of his he had... was a good set up, he said. But has not heard of anyone testing this in the Best in The Desert RAcing series yet. It looks like it will work well although it will be hard to steer when locked in and while locked in will be hard on front end parts. But there is always a negetive to a positive.. same as running big tires.. its hard on front end parts. But it will solve issuies for the ones that need this type of locking device. True locking devices like this always will cause hard steering when the unit is locked in.

This one is not fully locked per say though , because one tire has the ability to turn faster than the other ...
So steering will be much easier than a full locker , for example .. as in a halo .

Time will tell ,but the X3 duffs sure don't work well stock / seen that first hand ....in the slow technical stuff for sure.

The X3 is more of a high speed unit isn't it? 2mph rock crawling really wasnt what it is built for. Lockers will help though.

Well yes and no , with an extremely low , low gear and 24" of travel & great clutching it has the ability to dominate rock crawling .
It does well already , BUT that silly visco lock holds it way way back ...
I believe the X3 also has the none QE front diff ,as well ... which is brutal.
So this will certainly change things up I think ..
The X3 s we rode with were very impressive, a little long in tight trails but a next level machine for sure . However ,the lack of true 4x4 held them back a little ...
I think it was more noticeable on them because of the power and suspension they have , if you pin it to lock the visco, you are simply going to fast too soon .. on the tight trails .
That bing said my turbo mav is a little quicker of the line and about the same speed up to 50 /60 ish , then the X3 pulls away a bit ...
This is an easy and cheap option though that is worth looking into if you ride tight trails & need the extra traction of a locked diff ...
If you are just fire roading , then there is really no need ..
Imo

QE 2 does not lock either.
Saw it many times last week.
Not happy with it.

I ran one of these in my 76 jimmy years back. It worked fine for awhile then started to slip with my 35" tires so I ended up welding it. Should be fine for a quad or side by as there is not as much weight or tire size to compete with, good luck and have so fun

They do come with a 4 year unlimited warranty . No matter how much power or tire size ... so they must have some faith in it I guess.

I agree with it being garbage for a 4x4 but with a sxs time will tell. I think they will hold up. At that price I'd buy one and try it out if I had a can am with issues. My can am diff works properly.
