just what i said- don't any need more socialist laws. if ya don't like to go out to accidents then i suggest finding a different job!

It's not that I don't like going out to accidents, it's my job. What gets wearying is seeing bad things happen to people that could have been prevented.
Sometimes we see things where the person got exactly what they deserved. They're being arseholes, doing stupid things and things go sideways. These are the people that we laugh about as we're driving away. Stupid people keep me in a job.
its your choice as an adult if you don't wear a helmet, or care if your family doesn't. Should you suffer a catastrophic head injury while riding that a helmet might have prevented, you have no one to blame but yourself.
I doubt you'll be so smug when you're having your diaper changed at the extended care home, or when you realize that you can no longer work or provide for your family. And when you watch someone else walk your daughter down the aisle, everyone there will admire what a tough guy you were.

Yes you seem to be missing my point, i have no problem wearing a helmet always have, sleds ,quads , street and dirt bikes. My beef is more dumb laws

I have been on this earth long enough to know that laws have little effect, People still kill , people still speed, still steal, rape, molest kids and on n on and on, so if you think a helmet law is going to make people safe!? Fill your boots!

I absolutely agree with wearing a helmet. Im 100% against big brother telling me I have to. We are becoming such a friggin nanny state it isnt funny.

Why dont we legislate how many servings of vegetables you have to eat a day? Im not joking. Is anyone going to dispute that this wouldnt be good for people? Of course it is. So why dont we do that? Because people have the right to choose. I eat very healthy, I wear my seatbelt, and I wear a helmet when I feel Im putting myself in ANY risk. I dont need the government to tell me. And if someone wants to eat at rotten ronnies 3 meals a day and take their new razor to the dunes wearing board shorts and smile.....thats their choice.

Your forgetting one thing .... Sure it's an individual choice ...BUT .. When some one ends up brain injured or worse ..
We ALL pay for it , economically , socially, and emotionally !

Listen ,we get it ... No one wants more laws !! We get that ... But ,if as stated many times on here , everyone is old enough / smart enough / safe enough ..
We WOULD NOT need a law .. But the #s tell us other wise ...
Some people , obviously don't get it !
I personally don't care if you don't like more laws ... I don't like paying for some one else's poor judgement !

While on the topic , I am appalled at the
Disrespect shown to our first responders .. Bloody disgusting.
Helmet or no helmet , when you call they show up to HELP you , everyday all day !
They see things no one wants to see, so of course they are for anything that reduces injures ....
Please show more respect than this ...
Ride safe ....

Would you agree that eating unhealthy is poor judgement? Should we legislate dietary laws? Do we all pay for others' poor choices in this area?

Not exactly.

Just like road taxes included in gas pricing to pay for road maintenence there is a tobacco tax on tobacco products to cover tobacco related illnesses. If you want to smoke or drive you pay a tax.

There is no tax on seat belts or helmets so failure to wear either and getting injured comes directly out of everyone's pocket. But there are FINES if you get caught. So the risk of being penalized financially creates incentives to maybe just do up the belt and tighten up the strap. Your choice in the end. I would rather y'all just wear your helmets and belts and quit bitching. Use common sense.

Id rather people think for themselves instead of the government telling us what to do, people can think what they want about this helmet law, Personally i think its stupid, if i want to wear a helmet that should be up to me, common sense has nothing do with it, It's the fact were all just like little sheep whatever the master says we all go running for it, that's the problem with this country no one ever says shove it,

And for people to think wearing a helmet or a seat-belt is gonna make you bullet proof absolutely not, all my point is let people make their own choices, Its sure to bad our wonderful government wouldn't do something useful for a change and do a sweep of all the bums and wastes of skin who don't hold a job and put them to work, There's to many laws for all the wrong reasons as far as i am concerned,

I you ask me it's a joke, lets wear helmets on quads, but legalize marajauna, I feel it should be up to us if we feel we should be wearing a helmet or not, I've been riding my quad for a long time now I have to wear one out dragging my ice shack around while fishing, it's to many laws, making all the good things in life not that good anymore, putting more gun regulations out, helmet laws, pretty soon your gonna have to show a card to purchase a mountain sled, to prove you passed the Avalanche courses and can drive a snowmobile so I read in the new Canadian snowmobiling magazine out, it's getting outta hand fast
Man, I don't get this mentality. Anyone who thinks they shouldn't wear a helmet on a motorized off road vehicle, needs to have their head examined. Mandatory Avalanche training, you're upset about??!! Wow. Fawking rights it should be mandatory. If you buy a sled designed for the mountains, it should be absolutely mandatory. I sincerely hope a law gets passed that makes Avalanche training mandatory. Glad I don't ride with cool dudes like this. Must be hard work being so cool.

I've seen almost as many rollovers and oopsies from people loading and unloading their machines as I have on the trails. Personally I'd recommend wearing it to load/unload.
Halve the problem with that is everybody is trying to stuff big machines into 4' or 6' boxes.....next law should be everyone has to buy a truck with 8' box! I've loaded all my machines thousands of times no problems cause I have my own safety agenda, the people that can't unload or load safely shouldn't be riding either.I don't need laws from a special interest communist government.....too bad I'm not a transgender Indian farmer then I'd be exempt. Lol

Holy cow the NDP must be getting to you guys out there.

Anything else that you think the government should legislate you to do? Mandatory 20 minutes of exercise a day for everyone?

Typical.

Ndp? That's what you got out of that? Pro oilfield, bud. Ndp is terrible. What you're failing to understand is that people are dying in avalanches... Not one, not two, a year. Every time some one dies in an Avalanche the government is watching..... We are going to lose more and more areas due to deaths. Any one who rides in the backcountry who had no Avalanche training is an idiot. Disagree? You're a Fawking idiot. This goes for helmets on atvs, too. What all the cry babies are missing is the fact that areas will close. Land owners will shut down. Stop thinking about your pretty hair do and start thinking big picture. I know it's hard to grasp, not thinking of oneself, but it's enlightening.

Think big picture boys. This isn't about you or I, it's about our sport.

No its about government gaining more and more power. Telling us what to think and do. Where do you draw the line? My comments in previous posts are serious. Do you not agree that we should legislate healthy diets and exercise? This kills WAY more people than lack of helmets ever has. Bottom line is that wearing a helmet, taking avalanche training, eating healthy, wearing a seatbelt, etc are all the "best" choice no doubt.....but if its a free country it is MY choice to make.

I dont think youre gonna get it. Go put some pink tassles on your sled.

I laughed at the tassels comment. Good one. I'm being serious.

Listen, I will never agree with any one who doesn't think Avalanche courses or helmets should mandatory.

The arguments against seem so juvenile, to me.

Most complain about the cost of any courses as their reasoning for not talking. Well guess what? You should want them to be mandatory even MORE so. Being mandatory, the cost of an Avalanche course will be 1/2 if not 1/3 the cost. It's a win win.

But fawk the government!

I recant on calling you an idiot, or anyone else for that matter. No sleep last night with a sick little daughter.

Agree to disagree.

Everyone feels passionate about their laws being good and great and saving lives. 150000 of them yet to be passed. Don't forget your neck brace with those helmets.

You have any stats on the numbers of sledders killed in avs over the last few yrs? How many killed had avalanche training . With way more experience and training than you have?

Actually is in some work places. 20 minutes to 1 hour. It is mandatory

I was at Task Force Tip a fire nozzle company in Indiana. After the owner suffered a mild heart attack he was told to exercise 30 minutes a day.

He build a gym. Now all staff exercise 30 minutes a day.

Also power rests help.
