Has nothing to do with the union. California banned trucks over 10yrs old for emissions. Nobody bought new trucks = shortage of trucks/drivers.

Self-fulfilling prophesy..
So did Vancouver....

Nobody would buy new trucks now when California says all electric rigs by 2035. Why spend so much to be illegal in 15 years.

The emissions law is no truck with a engine older than 2007, is allowed in the port.
What will happen to the port and the industry in 2035, I guess stay tuned.

In January 2020 the California assembly bill ment that meant independent owner ops had to be reclassified as employees if they contracted to a company.

If there are 9000 dock workers willing to work and run 3 shifts to run 24h. Each shift just saw a reduction in workers, where two shifts were at full complement.
Where are the extra trucks going to come from to move the product out??? They will have to hire way more truck to get the loads out.
What would prevent the hiring of outsiders???

Those ports should be balls to the wall with trucks getting containers off the pier and delivered.
