I'm gonna disagree with this statement. Depends on the college format and workload. I'm a pretty ballanced individual, mentally/emotionally that is. I've worked in camp situations, from large industrial projects with over 3500 workers to isolated bush work with a crew of 2 in a camp of 16. NOTHING in life has ever stressed me out like my time in college did (well maybe the divorce/custody battle), I was a mess. suffered from insomnia, couldn't keep a regular diet, felt as if the walls were closing in. And I didn't take neuro-science or asto-physics, it was Land Surveying @ COGS. The excellarated program required us to attend 8 hours of classroom instruction per day meanwhile trying to ballance field surveys, drafting and CAD projects after hours and on weekends. It seemed that as soon as one project was finished 2 more were assigned. Our class had a 25% drop out rate and only a 60% pass rate for those who remained. It was without a doubt the worst year of my life..... That said it gave me the opportunity to find a good paying job in alberta which rolled into every opportunity I've had since. Pretty sure that year of college made everything else following seem easy but I was very close to being one of the 25% who dropped out, the only thing that made me stay was the knowlege that I had already given up a year to upgrade my highschool GPA to get in and my mom had invested over $15K for the opportunity.

It's easy to say that Highschool & College are a cake walk compared to the "real world" however for those in highscool & college that is their real world and it's not fawking easy. I feel sorry for anyone who claims that Highshcool/college were the best years of their lives, personally 2013 has been the best so far, and before that it was 2012, 2011 etc... with the exception of 2003/2004 (mariage with satan was tough) every year gets better...

Each persons preasent is their own reality, grab it by the horns because in the grand scheme of things individually we have little control...

College is a cake walk compared to the real world, especially camp life...

And you stuck it out and that made you who you are today... You also seem to have your **** together and have a thick skin, that makes camp life much easier. I just remember a thread where someone said that no one can change their mind about school and doesn't want to be just another brick in the wall blah blah blah, was very adamant about it. At least he can aford avy gear now lol.

This is really true. Until you've experienced real life you don't realize how hard it is compared to college. In college all you know is college and if you fail a class you can take it over again. There are times when assignments and exams are weighing heavily on you and it requires long hours. But once you get to real life you realize college was a cakewalk. Now you put in the long hours just to get your job done and if you fail something there is no re-taking it, you lose your meal ticket and the roof over your head.

I used to laugh cause at the end of a semester I was always ready to go back to work but at the end of the summer I was always ready to go back to school. Now life is a grind separated by these short windows called "weekends".

Highschool was a cakewalk, college was a cakewalk, school in general is a cakewalk. Took all the hard courses in high school, all the 30's and all the sciences and calculus as well and never hardly once had homework and never studied at all because I used my time in class well and did all my work there, finished with a 78% overall average and never once missed a party. Took a two year condensed program at SAIT in ten months, walked out with a 3.2 GPA. Lots of mediocre work and buckling down there, but all it took was time, had to manage time well to get the alloted work done in the alloted timeframe and because I payed attention in class and worked instead of bull****ting with classmates there was no need to study whatsoever. Its not impossible and it is a cakewalk compared to real life. All it takes is to stop procrastinating and buckle down and put the time in and make some sacrifices. Its very easy to just party and put things off to the last minute in college because for the most part the instructors could care less if u show up and do any of the work..... hell your paying to be there so its on you. On my first day of college the main instructor of our program said " look around, there is 55 students here and at the end of the semester 15-20 of you will be gone, at the end of the second semester another 5-10 more will be gone and by the end of the year only 25-30 of you will graduate, this is a high workload program and most wont be able to manage time accordingly and will be asked to leave the program" Most of the guys and girls that got kicked out or dropped out, drank too much, partied to much and just didn't try, it had nothing to do with being smart or dumb, just plain lazyness

I as well drank and partied alot..... and I mean alot, and I never said you would not amount to anything if you did those things, but in a high workload program there is a time for that and it is not all the time. My point was that school is easy, you just have to manage time for everything, because school is definitely not impossible. I also worked 30-40 hrs a week building basements while I was in college because I had no money coming from parents or college funds, so there was alot of 7 day weeks with 70-80 hrs/week between school and work. All I kept telling myself was its only 10 months of my time, only 10 months.....

I drank and partied too much, and was lazy........hmmmmm i'm never going to amount to anything

I thought thats against your religion

I know under the description its a religion, but I don't call it one, some people take it to where you could call it a cult. but I refuse to let myself judge someone or condemn them because they're not christian or something stupid like that, nothing pizzes me off more than when some christians set standards for people, its not how it should be. just my thoughts. but don't wanna start a war, so lets change the sunject haha
