what air box mods are you running, if any. I have hered that the 700 were very finicky about having there air boxes played with.
I believe that if you search the performance sections you will find a few posts about this very thing

that's weird, slp boost bottle really leveled mine out, I also run on of the Holtz vari-flow system as well, though

let us know what happens....good luck

Also check both the rubber carb boots for any hole or cracks had the same thing happen on my old sled and found that both where cracked.

well i am going to go through the carbs, the boost bottle and carb boots tomorrow. i am also going to take the air box apart and make sure its all together right. just would be nice for it to run right. also dose any one in alberta now what they are running for jets atleast it would be a starting point, heard these keihln carbs were hard to get set up right.

I have a 2000 rmk and have gone through the same thing. One question, does it still have the factory ACCS (altitude compensator?) If it does that may be your culprit. If that is the case and u want to check it out do this
- remove accs unit and plug off vacuum barb on carb
- make a plate to cover the hole that the accs went into and attach a hose fitting to hook up your carb vents to. u want your carbs to vent into the airbox to make sure u are getting the same outside air pressure as the intake
- make sure your carb is jetted for a good baseline for your lowest elevation
-settings for staock are 185 mag,180pto,#3 clip needle, 1turn out for air screw
- but before all this check to make sure carbs are clean, esspecially pilot jets
and also make sure your float valve is holding pressure and that the floats are set correctly. If unsure how to test just buy new ones. Also spray carb cleaner around the pto seal and your carb boots to make sure you don't haave an air leak . hope that helps, good luck :)

I was thinking ACCS may be the culprit. but i want to try other things before i trash it. eventually i want to but atacc system on it but that will have to wait.

My post about the accs was based on checking it. U could do the things u need to do to bypass it as listed above and see if it helps and if it doesn't then at least u know it is not the accs. Those changes to remove it literally take about 3 or 4 hours to do if u take your sweet time :p At least if u can eliminate it as a possability u might be one step ahead. I am sure u will fiqure it out. good luck with it :)

Just an update. got the sled running good. went through the carbs cleaned and sync. set air screw 3\4 turn out runs great. just have to swap out main jets for one size up i believe. Did a long pull across the lake and egt's got a little hot for my liking. dose any body know what a typical reading should be on a piped sled, i was told 1300 max.

spark plugs are what you need to watch , EGTs are a very good tool once the plugs are where you want them , then see what the EGTs are runnig at ,

I have to get back out on the lake didn't have a wrench with me when the egt's spiked. pulled the plugs when i got to the truck and they looked good then light paper bag brown. I am also going to take a bore scope and see what the piston wash looks like. I was just looking at what a typical temp would be, most the time mine will run 1300 to 1320 wot but it spiked and went up to 1400 which i think is way to high, unless i was getting a lot of unbunt fuel in the pipes that would cause a spike to would it not.

I have read that to but i also heard some sleds will run high 1300s. i can run all day at 1320 and plugs look good it was just the spike in temp i was worried about.
