Hey guys , I need some help on picking a good used beater SUV. Looking for something to just drive to work to work every day in the city, haul the dog around etc etc. I want to park my 2015 Chevy 3500 , putting way to much km on it. I've narrowed Down the search to Tahoe, yukon , grand Cherokee , Dodge Durango , or a Ford Explorer. My budget is 6g. I keep finding negative and positive reviews on all of them so it's hard to choose one. Anybody here have anything bad to or good to say about the above vechiles??? Or know of any clean used ones forsale in Edmonton area. Anything from year 2000 to 2006 is fine. I've been watching kijiji everyday and I test drived two dodges from a used car lot but found problems with both units. Worried about buying a piece of junk

Stay away from anything built by Chrysler. Mucho electrical and transmission problems. They all have they're problems but Chrysler are particularly bad. The only thing worse than a new Chrysler is an old one.

best SUV's are going to be the pathfinders and 4 runners just not sure how old you need to go to get that price range.

My 2012 ford escape I had as a company truck was awesome, I put 180K trouble free Km's on it no issues, was a v6 good on gas (600km to 70L tank) AWD was great no real complaints.

Highlander would be a good SUV too.

It's smaller than what you are looking for, but the best vehicle I ever had was a 98 Cherokee with the 4.0L, Auto trans, and Selec trac t-case. Mileage was not great, but in the world of offroading, the 4.0L is the equivalent of a Chevy 350 - it's as durable as it gets. Chassis is still rigid axle....rides like a Jeep should. The snow and stuff that thing could go through was unbelievable.

Don't rule out the Hyundai Santa Fe. Had one for 200K and now the daughter has it. Solid unit, good fuel mileage and cheap to maintain.

2003 Toyota RAV4 just turned 350000kms, trouble free. A little smaller than the ones you mentioned, but great for city driving, easy to park anywhere, this thing owes me nothing, would buy another one in a heartbeat.

I like the MDX from Acura, I've had 3 so far and no problems. Could get a 2006/7 for that price range. They drive nice and run good. They look small but are in fact very roomy. Just my opinion.
