So the story goes that last time out my sled would not have power when hitting hign rpm under strain.

I am trying a few things and have some questions.

1. First off prior to going out I had to change the throtle cable. With it being such a pain in the a$$ to do I dont think It also has an adjuster half way up the cable.

2. I have taken the clutches off and am taking them in for cleaning and inspection since i dont know jack about clutching. What are the torquing specs whn putting these back on??? Also i have had the sled for three years and never had the clutches apart, should I be putting new secondary spring?

3. Fuel filter? Whats the easiest way to get to this? is it under the tank?

4. Plugs, whats the proper gap for this machine for BR9ES???

5. I was thinking about taking the DPM out and cleaning up, is it worth it or should I just get a new one? nd does anyone know how much a new one is??

6. Rave Valves, I was thinking of taking these off and cleaning up, is this difficult? dont want to have little peices everywhere I dont know where to put back together.

ANY OTHER RECOMENDATIONS? i HAVE TRIPS PLANNED AND REALLY WANT TO GET THIS THING WORKING!

Thanks
Jay

how many miles on the sled?

either way your clutches need maintenance i guarantee. in my opinion springs in both clutches should be replaced every 2000km aswell as the buttons andteflon pads in the secondary.

you are on the right track but ensure that when you installed the new throttle cable that the carbs are in fact opening fully.

take the raves apart and clean them. they arent that complicated on your sled.

the dpm could be at fault but you shoudl test it before replacing it as its a 400$ unit.

hook a 9v battery to the solenoid and listen for a buzzing/clicking sound.

sparkplug gap ii cant remember off hand but it will not cause your sled to run like crap.

The sled has 4500 miles but the motor ha only 600.

what is the best way to know if the cable running to the oil inject is set properly?

Should I just clean the raves with brake clean?

I will have to go buy a 9v battery but for now I will check hoses for cracks etc

i would do everything maxwell mentioned and i would check your compression while your at it too. should be around 120ish... most likely its your clutches... and as for your fuel filter im pretty sure thats not your issue because i dont think you have a fuel filter :)

there should be a sticker on your pto jug,i think it is .045 gap.
don't they recommend the br9ecs plugs for an 05.undo the 2 allen key bolts and pull the raves out clean off all the build up and make sure the diaphram isn't cracked.
there is a little circle and then a line on the oil pump arm ,line the line up with the centre of the circle.

u can use varsol and a wire brush/wheel to clean ur raves and then just blow them off with air

u can use a 12 volt battery to check the solenoid and u will just here a "click" if its working

When checking the diaphram on the raves, it makes a sucking noise when pulled in and out but looks good, is this normal??

woooooohhooooooo i think i may have found the problem! after tearing things down i found a hose from the DPM to the carb was ot connected! When changing the throttle cable I must have knocked it off. I am still going to take the clutches in and get new springs but hopefully this was the issue!!!

no there is 3 alignment marks. 2 on the body and 1 on the arm. or vise versa cant remember.

either way you want it in between those 2 marks or on the lower one.

and you have to be looking STRAIGHT at it with a dental mirror or something.

if your looking at an angle you will never get it correct.

run 50:1 for the first tank to ensure your using the right amount of oil without burning down

well here's the best pic i can get, for the life of me i cant find any other marks.

Underneath the arm all i can see is Mikuni, but no marks.

If I took the two bolts out and removed it without removing the cable maybe
I could get a better look if this is possible
