Being in the NASCAR circuit costs a lot of money.

Earnhardt Jr. proclaims to be free of all concussion symptoms after in car testing on the track this week. Looks good for Speedweeks in Daytona, Jr. fans.

Also hearing that Nascar is considering fairly radical changes to the racing format in the Monster Cup Series. There is talk of having quarters or half times at races to allow more changes to the cars and break up the race some for fans to step away for a few minutes. I guess guys that just go to drink hate missing 60 laps in the line for the pizzers?

hmm. could be interesting to see some teams that missed the setup get a chance to make some corrections or a team in a crash have some time to get the car back together and on the track. I feel the interruption will outweigh the few interesting changes it could create though. Also more likely to benefit the bigger teams that transfer knowledge on car setup throughout the race.

Wow is right. I just got a notification on my phone and can't believe it. There has to be something more to the story than this? I hope he isn't sick or something? He will be missed on and off the track.

There was speculation that he might go into the broadcasting booth, but like you stated, hopefully it's nothing to do with his health.
Who knows, maybe he's not able to nail the landing on his back flips anymore and just said F* it

I watched his news conference today and he had 3 reasons:
1. Happy with his accomplishments in the sport (except for Championship)
2. Wants to move onto other ventures (Agriculture, broadcasting, family, politics)
3. Concern with health as the sport is dangerous ( lost his nerve?)

He hasn't ruled out racing again but not full time and Coach Gibbs will be the first guy he calls if he does.

I have to admire him for leaving on his own terms. I guess we will see where the future lies for him

Big news in Nascar yesterday. A new race format in the top 3 series for this upcoming season. Its very complicated but I will give you the highlights: All races will be broken into 3 stages with a time out between the stages. Points and playoff points will be awarded for each stage winner but the last stage will remain the same as previous years with the winner receiving 40 points for the win. No bonus points will be issued for leading a lap or most laps led. There will be once again a trophy for the regular season point champion and he will automatically advance to the playoff round even if he doesn't win a race. The playoff format will be the same as the regular season but the structure of 16--12-8-4 will remain the same with the final 4 duking it out in Homestead for the Championship. Check out all the details on Official Site of NASCAR | NASCAR.com

Update on Carl Edwards. Its been reported that he will run for Senate in Missouri next year against the Democratic incumbant in a bid to enter US Politics. I guess the rumors were true?

Also hearing Danica is in sponsorship trouble. Sounds like Nations Bakery may back out or tone down their sponsorship with her the coming season. No comment yet from SHR on what their plan is.
