Big news today in Nascar. This coming season will see a new rule that if you are in a crash and the repairs are to extensive to get you back on the track in under 5 minutes your car will be out of the race. You will still have to meet the minimum speed limit designated by Nascar for that track or you be disqualified. Mechanical repairs are exempt from this rule so per say you have a broken transmission the team can change out that part in the garage and get you back on the track even with laps lost. This is big news as even a tire failure that can tear apart the sheet metal on the car could put you out of the race if repairs take to long. The idea is for a safer track as there seems to always be more yellow flags after crashes as parts tend to fall off cars and create a safety concern for other drivers. Could change the points standings fairly dramatically this upcoming season?

Well so much for the intermission helping teams get back on the track. Clearly it's just to sell more beer, advertising time, and hold millennials short attention spans

Maybe the bodies will get a more modular and they can swap large pieces on Dzus quickly? Going to be an interesting season, no Stewart, no Edwards, maybe no Danica.... maybe even an 8th championship?

Teams will be paying even more attention to tires now.

Boy there are a lot of stupid people with money in America right now. Derrick Cope has found a sponsor in the Monster Energy Cup Series for this year to Atlanta in March with a possibility of doing the remaining schedule if all the money comes through. And..............................74 year old Morgan Shepard will be heading down to Daytona to run the Nationwide Series race with a new sponsor and if things go well will make the west coast swing immediately after Daytona. Crazy.........

Danica pulled a rabbit out of its hat and announced Aspen Dental will expand their partnership with SHR this year and sponsor Danica for double digit races this season helping that team make all the races this year.

Very interesting rumor surfaced today about Carl Edwards. A Nascar media type has reported that Joe Gibbs Racing is paying Carl $15,000,000 this year to sit out as he will be joining Penske next year to race a third entry with Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano? Penske has denied this report when called but where there is smoke there is fire sometimes? Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

The Clash runs Saturday night at Daytona. Cars are on the track practising already. It has been announced Hendrick will minimize Jr's chances of being in a crash and reinjuring his brain so Alex Bowman will race the 88 car Saturday night and Junior will be in the broadcast booth with FOX.

Yikes! 15,000,000.00 to sit around and watch? The coach has a weird way of thinking. Not sure how he would fit in with Brad and Joey.... no one likes them and Carl seems like a people person lol. Who's glad to see a dentist waste their money on a non competitive car with a driver who isnt quite sure what to do, ever? All this under the new Monster logo with the new defined lap breaks will make for an interesting year.

For my buddy Trollcat. The Biff says he will not be racing full time in Nascar this season as he is waiting for the right opportunity to come along. However he has scored a part time gig with NBC Nascar coverage starting March 1st as an analyst.
