That's good news. Will make these series more exciting also in my opinion.

Nascar announced yesterday that the Xfinity Series and Camping World Truck Series will now adopt a similar Chase playoff system as the Sprint Cup series for this coming season.

David Ragan is replacing Jeb Burton in his ride this coming season and Bass Pro is sponsoring Martin Truex this coming season. Thats great news for both drivers.

For those of you that follow Nascar on MRN you will be sad to hear veteran broadcaster Barney Hall has passed away at 83. He will be missed.

Sad to hear, I didn't realize he was so old. Society is full of good old guy and gals like Barney and unfortunately they have served their time here. The passion and love of these older people working is unbelievable and gonna be tough to replace by the younger generation.

I don't like to think about it but its gonna be a sad sad day when DW passes to!

Have to really wonder what goes on in Tony's head the past few years? Its easy to see why a company like Bass Pro takes the majority of there sponsorship dollars over to another team because there driver keeps partaking in extra curricular events and actions that affect his ability to properly give a sponsor what they want. I love Tony but its sad to see that the last 3 years of his career have been quite forgettable.

You're pry self employed but let's say you worked for a company and just like any company they expect you to come everyday you are scheduled and work. Now, would you quit riding snowmobile or ATV or doing whatever it is that you enjoy because of what your company expects of you? I don't deny tony to do what he loves off the track. He is just lucky to be sponsored at what he's good at

Oh its his life and he can choose how he wants to conduct it. I admire him for being "not a cookie cutter" driver. Just saying its not a way a future Hall of Famer probably wants to go out in the sport he made his mark in. He is lucky he is the owner. Not sure he would still be driving for a top level team if he wasn't.

I really think it's got to be tough for these drivers to still live there lives off the track and enjoy doing what they want when the 'big machine' that is Nascar, sponsors, media, etc... are always there to pounce when something goes sideways in their personal lives. I really feel for Tony - he's had a rough few years recently...

Couldnt agree more. Personal live for these driver is pretty minimal. Look at the off season, busy busy busy. Then 3 weekends off in 8 months....Gotta enjoy what you work for

Super competitive, if you really think about it, there is only about 15 drivers roughly who could actually win the race every week, and the rest of the 43 are just there to fill the field. Not saying they couldn't win but the big players are gonna have to have some sort of trouble. If they got hurt playing sports or got sick or for whatever reason, missed the race that weekend they didn't have anybody they let down except themselves, their family, and their fans.

Its just the way the sport has evolved and I feel like the sponsors and even team owners sometimes expect a little too much from their drivers. I think truth be told, the owners went looking for the drivers and the sponsors for that driver. The driver didn't go looking for them. When the owner and sponsor agree to sign a driver they should be comfortable with who they are hiring and let them live their life as they normally would else they better not sign him or her.

Its like that in all sports. The team or sponsor has huge $$$$ invested in you and when they sign you up they expect to get there money's worth. Tony has not raced much in the last 3 years and now he will pay the price as Bass Pro has moved 90% of there sponsor dollars from him to Martin Truex. Drivers still go after sponsors just ask the lower tier guys losing rides because someone brought a sponsor on board and now drives the car.
