Don't worry though. Somewhere, somebody in the Canadian government is dreaming up a way to tax EVs more. Along with everything else.
The magic words that get a liberal what they want... "I'm offended"His face offends me, Please stop.
A few hundred in road tax? You clearly have no idea how much of the price of fuel is tax.Lol, no kidding.
Apparently someone being a productive member of society earning an income either through employment or as a business owner, while contributing 20%-50% of that income to the government in taxes, spends what's left of that earned money on a $50k-$70k Tesla, which immediately makes them a liberal socialist leach that sucks on the tit of the government for not paying a few hundred $ per year in fuel tax.
In Alberta the combination provincial and federal fuel tax is $0.2373 per liter of gasoline. If you consider somebody that drives the average 20,000km per year in a vehicle that averages 9l/100km, this works out to $427 per year.A few hundred in road tax? Well some of you can rejoice in that I guess. And i can expect smooth roads any day now.Don't worry though. Somewhere, somebody in the Canadian government is dreaming up a way to tax EVs more. Along with everything else.

I haven't waited for a charging stall once in 2.5 years but you're right, it's possible. An 8 stall v3 supercharger can accommodate 16 cars/hour (considering a 30min charge time but usually it's way less). Charger capacity will increase with time.LOL, what if 5 go at once , or are you assuming only the same amount of cars travelling as their are super chargers ?
i'm not arguing that these aren't cool cars or that the future may be heading this way , my point is its so silly to go whole hog into anything when the support and infrastructure and readiness for switchover is so sadly lacking . It'll come , i'm sure , but let it happen realistically , cause right now its certainly far from a level playing field .
What is sadly missing in your response is the realization that the government is not an entity of itself but rather just supposed to represent the citizens. When you take from the government you are taking from your neighbors. It is the same thing but many feel it is okay to screw the government and do not make the connection to buddy down the street. This view seems universal though so don't feel too bad. Even most Governments acts like they don't work for the people. I always would laugh at a sign near my house on a utility corridor that read "No Trespassing by order of the Government of Alberta" To me this should mean only the owners are allowed to trespass, so all Albertans should be welcome on the property. I wonder how that would play out in a provincial court?Lol, no kidding.

Yup, no one will ever agree where money is being spent. Especially when things are supposed to be democratic and that should mean "majority rules" when in reality special interest groups are often focused on and money funneled to them. The main problem with it is if the government is given $1 by the time they take their cut and their buddies cut and so much of the money is wasted on stupid chit, maybe 1/3 is actually used effectively? I'd get more use from my tax dollars burning it then it going to the government.
We are being robbed.Big time. I would love to see where our tax dollars actually end up. But that's a topic for another thread.Yup, no one will ever agree where money is being spent.
