My 16 year old hit a rock on his ride.... crunched the bulk head behind the A arms on the clutch side. He is in tears. It was an accident, so he says. He was following his buddy who uncovered the rock and he hit it... S*&t happens I told him. He is so unhappy right now. He loves his sled and always looks after it, he maintains it like an anal person would?... Like me! I have told him to learn from this and get out and enjoy the rest of the winter. He says he ruined his sled. Doesnt want to ride anymore?? The sled is perfectly fine to ride, has damage but nothing that will effect the performance.... Whats a father to do?

If it happened to me, ride it the rest of the season and like real_wild1 says fix in the summer. Not sure if you work on your own sled, but it would make a good father/son experience. Not to mention he will learn how to fix his sled for next time.

wow good on your boy. just tell him to get back in the saddle. It can be a good father son project to fix it in the spring.

That is a super clean sled, no wonder he is bummed out. I went out with my son yesterday, he waited till he was riding mine to bust something!!!

The CN shack along the tracks by Allen creek.
Tell him to look out the front window. Then when he's looking jump the driveway with his sled at full speed. That will reflash his mind and remind him how friggin sweet sleds are. He will be filling it with fuel and riding within an hour.

Sounds like a little father/son time in the shop this spring! Where did he hit the rock?

My son did the same thing last winter on his Firecat on one of our 1st rides of the year- he was very upset. Bent the bulkhead on the clutch side. $1000 later and new bulkhead, we were going again in a couple of weeks.
