My brother is a heli skiing pilot so yeah, having some insight, it does piss me off with this situation........and it's not the first time Albertans have been told to "go back to Alberta" Its rude and uncalled for.

Lots and I mean lots of the locals , bla bla red plates this or that , but what they still can not think of is , without red plates coming , they would have nothing in town really, like groceries stores , restaurants ect , that's what keeps them open

The only concern that would have been relevant here would be the drones around operating air craft! Content creators need to be really aware of that conflict because it will give the heli guys huge ammo against us sledders!

Is there regulation on drone flying in the back country? I don’t know. I don’t think they fly the drones very high for filming. On the other hand the helicopters do come into land.

Everyone use needs to respect each other out there and continue on enjoying the back country. 2 more days and that area is closed for sledders, another dump and the heli skiers will never know sledders were ever there.

I was wondering the same, it could of went faster if it was planned better. The guys standing around the cable under tension had me wondering as well, but they got it out.

Glad it is out.
I don’t think the club has a previous incident to go to for information/experience. Also, it appeared that the ‘foreman” didn’t have experience with that type of work. They did seem to get along with no big arguments.

I wonder if a big hoe would have helped? Not sure how close the pulling end was from shore. It it was on the edge they could have moved snow and broke ice with it then lift it up and get poles under it? All depends like I said on how close to shore they were. Don’t need a hoe under water either

I dunno. I'd say they did pretty good. Especially for a bunch of guys that don't do that sort of stuff. Nobody got hurt and they basically had it out in less than a day.
Easy to have lots of ideas from the comfort of your living room, but I know first hand how much slogging around rigging the snow sucks, let alone standing on a ladder over slushy water.
Sheet, could you imagine if half of S&M was there? We would still be arguing over whether to 1/4 turn the shackle back or not.

Problem with a hoe is walking it far takes a lot of time and unless it has single grouser pads it would have poor traction on the snow, even corked.

It was interesting being there and see it finally get pulled out using the logs to elevate the back end. You can he me yell out, "good job guys".

Not an easy job, so much snow and ice to move and adjusting the winch lines constantly. Glad they got it out and now can go thru it and get it up and running.
