Muffpot tip for hotter cooking temperatures

I see a lot of complaints that "my cooker is just a warmer" when folks have their muffpot hotpot generic cooker etc mounted toward the tail end of the exhaust system.

You can dramatically increase conductive heat transfer to your cooker by making a "heat transfer pad" out of scrunched up aluminum foil like in attached pics.

On my XP this works about perfect mounted on the elbow going into the can. The location is convenient and it gets hot enough to cook but not burn.

It's funny how many people are buying muff pots. I built one in the early 90's, and got laughed at like crazy. I had to go back to eating cold smashed sandwiches because it was embarrasing to pull a freshly cooked ham and egger off the pipe. Weird how things change.

i would have used it anyways just say "enjoy your frozen lunch hahahaha" while you eat your nice hot meal! hahahahaha!

I find a couple of hard pulls on the nitrous right before lunch really adds to the heating ability.

This is the one thing that I truly miss. When we switched to 4 strokes, we lost the awesome trail meals. Need a miny 12 volt microwave.

Crappy tire sells electric (12v) lunch boxes with the cigarette lighter plug for $40. Dealer wouldn't recommend using it in the accessories plug as he thought it may cause some electrical issues. I put on a pair of aligator clips and direct to the battery. I use it on the quad and am sure it would be adaptable to the sled. It isn't as hot as the pipe but I think it would work quite well in your situation.

PS added bonus, they are much bigger than the conventional pot; you could feed the whole group!!!

My only complaint is mine keeps getting loose. Any suggestions from keeping the gear clamp from loosining?? I've really tightened it only to have it breaK. I think my pipe gets pretty hot. No issues whatsoever with heating.

FWIW my gearclamp stays completely tight with that pad under the base. You can feel the pad compressing when you tighten down on it; maybe pretensions the clamp to help keep it tight??

I think the water pump clamps are the culprit. The heating and cooling just naturally loosen the clamp. I found my solution a few years ago and have never looked back.....

I bought a couple of extra clam shell clamps and springs. They are made for the heat of the exhaust and the spring keeps things tight. Work like a charm....happy cooking

I would not get to excited about adding a load to the electrical. Not a long term {every time you ride}, etc.

The stators will last longer if you a have some load other than just the engine.

Short term loads are acceptable as they are constantly working the elect parts. These parts are designed and engineered for this.

No load-bad
some or short term load-good
Major long term draw on elects-bad
