Muff pot on factory pipe.

I was told some guys are cutting out the heat guard on the factory pipes when mounting a muff pot for more heat, is this nessisary?

It isn't necessary but it sure decreases the cooking time.....

Fernie has it right. I did the same only on the fat part of the pipe above the RO in rotax.
