Moving to BC

Thought about moving back to BC, but that quickly faded,.. nothing but tax and people working to pay for the self righteous greenies on handouts,.. and I had the NDP gov't.


I'm from the island and all my relatives from my dad side are in BC.

I was in Saskatoon in nov a couple years back. Was -15 and a wind howling. I looked around at everyone gassing up at the gas bar thinking to myself, are you people all crazy for living here? I love the excuses about why not to move outta the tundra. Everyone that is successful around my parts would be successful anywhere. Move to bc if you want to. Plenty of opportunities to earn a living. I can sit outside without getting bit by mosquitoes. At most I have to scrape my windshield before going to work 10x yr. Was just riding pow all day today and I am
back home by 5pm. My buddy caught 1400 prawns yesterday. We passed guys fishing for steelhead in the river on the way to the hill... but they have hippies in bc and icbc too expensive. It does fing matter .

If you are going to move somewhere for the weather, why limit yourself to this communist frozen land we call canada?

I like your thinking. There is nothing nicer than driving by the palm trees in Meza early morning headed to play golf. Everyone loves us down there because we are so hardy not wearing a parka at 68 degrees lol. No bugs, no chinook 100km winds but I hear it can be tough living there in the summer.

On another note, I am a four-season kind of guy; don't mind winter (I've had some really bad ones with 20 years in the NWT, 3 years above Inuvik in beautiful downtown Sachs Harbour, and a bunch of years in Saskatchewan), love spring, summer, and fall. I can enjoy a lot of BS if I don't have to put up with -40, -30, 0r -20 degree temps. This past winter we were at -18 for one day only and generally, Salmon Arm has no wind. Pretty easy winters to enjoy the outdoors. Sure there are clouds, but that is what keeps it warm and the open water is a big contributor to the warmer temps and the clouds. Summer isn't real hot like Kamloops, haven't experienced very many bugs in the summer, and it is great for growing gardens. Love the colours of all the trees in the fall (never got that in the Kootenays because it was mostly coniferous trees) and we get a good month of the reds, orange, and yellow.

Life in the Shuswap/Salmon Arm is a good life. Removed from the crowds of Kelowna, the heat of Kamloops, the high cost of Revelstoke, and the isolation/lack of amenities of many of the smaller communities.

Plenty of water to drink and fish to catch. If I never seen snow again I'd be ok with that.

But not everyone is after the same thing I guess...

LOL, Déjà vu dude. Sounds like , once you clear away the self serving BS, the only service you provide is to yourself, same as last conversation .

At the end of the day being self employed is all about providing for myself and Deciding when and who I work for. Each month my bank account gets fatter so I'll keep doing what I have been.
