Moving a Pool Table

Anyone have any experience is dismantling these or have had one moved. It's a 5' X 10' solid oak Dufferin Snooker table. I called a few places in the city and have had no luck, two places said it was too big. They can however come take it apart then i get it moved then they can re assemble but this will cost over $1,000 plus km's. This was my grandpas table and i don't want to sell it and want to keep in the family. It's in Edmonton and i would like it moved to my sisters place out by Alberta Beach area. Any advise is appreciated.

You can probably find a set of the manufacturer's assembly instructions online. I've helped move a friend's table a couple of times - they're all screwed together and the felt is stapled around the edges, and moving is a good time to replace the felt anyway. The playing surface is likely 2 - 4 pieces of slate, which are the toughest to move because of their weight, and can be quite fragile.

Its not to bad we have moved my 4x8 oversized table 2wce now boltd and nuts underneath and side cushions come off, remove table felt, them remove the slate and rest is pretty easy, setting up and leveling takes a little time i use playing cards as shims

We did find the paper work from when he bought it, ill have another look to see if there is any details as for taking it apart. I swear these guys never tossed out anything. Thanks guys i'll have to mull it over with the family and see if we can tackle it.

I sold my old table to a buddy, he just hired a pool table mover, they charged him a couple hundred, well worth the money, try calling jacks are wild, they can probably steer you to someone

I would think a couple cases of beer and Fireball after the move would get it done quite cheaply. Must have a friend with a pick-up truck!!

If I were closer I'd volunteer.

probably best to have someone set it up properly in the new house. My dad had one put in the basement years ago, it was a bit of work to level the slate and then they poured wax in the cracks to ensure flatness.

I bought my table from playmore games which I believe got rebadged a few years ago.... but they have moved my table a couple times and at a excellent rate. Great time to recloth the table while you are at it!

I moved mine in with a few buddies and had a fellow from jacks are wild come and set it up. Them slates are super heavy i will not be moving it again! When i sell the house it will be staying.

holy crap thats expensive! I had ours taken apart, moved and reassemble due to a flood in the basement for $480 bucks and included offsite storage while making repairs to the basement.

I’ve disassembled and moved one. Wasn’t too bad. Came apart pretty easy and just reverse the procedure to reassemble.

The slate was 3 pieces. I used tile thin set to fill the cracks between the slate after it was level. The fleet just staple guns around, then screw the bumpers and pockets back on.

If you try to move it around without disassembly you will crack the joints in the slab.

Jacks are Wild and River City Games both charge same to take apart $450 one was higher to re install, round $500 plus millage on top, one said yes that's not far and the other said nope. I think i'm gonna try to tackle this myself, everyone makes it sound so easy. This thing is going to be heavy AF for sure. Solid oak of course but i'm sure the felt has never been changed so might as well try. I just want it done right. My grandpa probably loved this table more then he loved my grandma. Moved my parents a few times. The worst was carrying the slate anywhere. Its currently disassembled and being moved to a friends place. We took it apart and will put it together, but will hire someone to move the slate, likely a by the hour moving company. Its not worth the back pain for us to move it. We used body filler to fill in between the slate sections.

Or try Recreation World on 104 St, they have an install company. I set up a table in our Fairmount house about 10 years ago myself and will never do that again. Used to do it for Rec world a long time ago like in the eighty's.
