Mounting plates

Just wondering were everyone puts these gay ass plates on bikes not designed to have them? Front number plate works but I think that's gaudy looking. Side number plates are a good spot for getting trashed, and that's including legs, plastics, and the plate itself. Any other suggestions?

Behind front number plate between forks zap tie it. It's what i do...

On my sled I just carry mine in my handlebar bag. If you take a back pack or something along, you can put it in there. Just have to get it out when they ask for it.

Nobody has had any problems with them not being affixed and visible at all times? Got 2 to mount. One for my bike and the other for my sons. For him to remember to take his registration, insurance and a plate may be wishful thinking.

can you get the plate made up into a decal and put on the number plates? keep paperwork in a ziplock under the seat.

licence plates are supposed to be visible from the rear, it is up to you, you can be fined for not having same. rivit it on rear fender.

Well I think I figured out where I am gonna stick these plates.

Not sure how durable it may be there. Not any worse than anywhere else I suppose. It rearward facing and easy to see in my mind. As far as the paperwork I think I'll get some of those clear sticky packing slip envelopes on put that on the backside of the front number plate.

For Alberta regs -

Licence plates

18(1) The Registrar must issue an off-highway licence plate for an
off-highway vehicle if the Registrar issues a certificate of
registration for the off-highway vehicle.
(2) The Registrar must issue off-highway vehicle licence plates in
the number and of the type and colour approved by the Minister.
(3) The owner of an off-highway vehicle must attach the licence
plate issued under subsection (1) securely to the front or rear of the
off-highway vehicle so that the licence plate is clearly visible.

Condition of plates

19 No person shall drive an off-highway vehicle if the licence
plate is not securely attached, legible and clearly visible to other
drivers at all times.

Prohibited display

20 A person who owns or drives an off-highway vehicle for
which an off-highway vehicle licence plate has been issued shall
not display on the off-highway vehicle any other plate or device
bearing numbers or letters or both that are identical to or have the
general appearance of a licence plate.

Photocopying is not allowed as per the regs.

Anyone can choose to not follow the regs, just don't come on here complaining about it if you get a ticket.

I never said anything about not following the regs. Trust me I have read both the provincial and county regs. I'm in barrhead county and u think $115 is expensive. Starts at $250 here. I'm just looking for other opinions on places to mount. I think the place I've come up with is effective. One can get rear fender delete kits for sport bikes and mount the plate up under the tail and be legal so I see no prob with it. As far as coming on here and whining after the fact If I should get a ticket, not gonna happen.

only problem i see is under the fender it will be covered in mud..

easily fixable by wiping it off.. but that still may result in trouble..

also, it may not.. i guess it all depends

I've though of that, but normally with my riding if it's gonna get covered then generally the whole bike is covered. Same as my grizzly, if there's mud it's everywhere. Not a clean safe spot left.

And I never said you weren't following the regs either? And I didn't say NorthernBear don't come on here complaining. Sorry you took it as me singling you out. Not the case.

But many people will and have suggested places to mount plates in the past and say they get away with their methods even though they don't fall under the reuirements of the regs. I am just putting the proper info out there.

You were the one who mentioned the side number plates don't work well, yet then say you know the regs. Well you can't use the side plates to begin with so it appeared you might not know the regs. Thats all....
