[h=2]Summary[/h]Additional snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm expected today. This is a warning that significant snowfall is expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions. Listen for updated statements.
[h=2]Details[/h]A Pacific frontal system is giving snow to the Kootenays today. Additional snow accumulation of 5 to 10 cm over Arrow Lakes - Slocan Lake area and near Fernie of Elk Valley is expected through this evening. The snow will taper off to a few flurries later this evening as the front moves southeastward away from the region. Meanwhile, an Arctic front will move south of the Peace region today. Strong northerly winds combining with falling temperatures will produce extreme wind chill values. Wind chill values are expected to reach near minus 40 overnight and will persist through Sunday.
The Weather Network does not receive public alerts from the Province of British Columbia.
As I sit in Elkford, we have 2-3" or 5-7 cm already. I am out the door and will report back later this afternoon. God it's great to see the snow and then just hop out the door and go!!!

We're pumped to head to Fernie and see a new area. It will also be my girlfriends first time in the mountains on a sled. she is excited. too boot we will have sick snow. if you don't have your tickets get them before it's too late.

We will be in Fernie Thursday night and would like to go for a ride on Friday as well. If anyone would like to go along that would be great. Don't know the area @ all but willing to check it out. We will be staying @ the Blackstone Lodge. Thanks
