Last year my 2012 pro 800 developed a top end bog at 7600 rpm and it would kick it down to 6800 rpm so this fall I tore it down trying to figure out what was causing it and when I did I found this chalky residue on the pistons I was hoping someone could tell me what it is and what the problem could be.
Thanks guys

All I see is normal carbon build-up. Was the bog a permanent development or something intermittent?

You run ethanol fuel? I checked my plugs one time on my old summit I filled up at husky, and my plug looked like that.

Check the exhaust valves and they're good I'll replace the springs for good measure

Replace piston and rings. Have a look at the rings. You will see chipping in them. Loosing seal and creating bog.

Get the MTNTK fix kit!! you already have it tore apart. sounds like your getting some blow by the rings already. spend the 700 and rebuild that sucker!!

Totally agree. Do the fix kit. It'll take out a jug if it goes, And cost you triple the cost of the fix kit.

I have said it a bunch of times on this forum!!! don't use RtTek junk!! stick with a company that knows what there doing. MTNTK is the only kit to run!!

Would the rings being gone also account for the sled not being able to hold an idle the not being able to start afterwards

Yes and it would have a hard time firing to go into reverse as well. Did you check the compression before you pulled the heads?

You haven't said whether the problem is all the time or comes and goes.
