What was your RMP at? Im guess that with a 159" track your sled is probably clutched for the mountains? Running wide open at lower elevations for long periods will allow it to over rev.
Keep us informed CRFsummit on the results from you tear down. Kinda got my curiosity.
well here it is....good news my pistons and top end are fine...its my bottom end, blew a crank shaft barring so i have to replace the whole crank shaft or get it rebuilt...im getting a newly rebuilt one from rec. supply, so what would have caused that, oil pump maybe?

Your sig line says this sled has a "retarded about of mods"? What mods are we talking about here?
Crank bearing failure is not uncommon, how many miles on the sled total? If the inner bearings have oil in them, then the oil pump is not the issue, if its the outer bearing on the PTO side then it probably needed to be re-packed and just burnt out. I've seen this a couple times before.
as for mods, bassicly just a pipe and can for the motor...but ALOT of cosmetic mods....
it is the barring on the conection rod on the clutch side, so what does that mean, as for miles well it reads 3500 however previous owner had a light weight hood so no miles to be counted there, and cant be sure of real miles with that hood on!
Cosmetic stuff is not mods, I was speaking in terms of motor mods for reliability. Connecting rod bearing failure is common, had a buddy blow one, his was the MAG side. The cases need to be inspected very carefully and make sure there are no cracks in the lower case half. There is not a lot of clearance once the rod bearing goes, the connecting rod often hits the cass and cracks it. If you have a crack then you will need new cases, both halves.
You can get it welded but sometimes that doesn't work out to well.
You mean removing the dealer decal of my sled doesn't make it a mod sled.
hope your going to replace the top end also? maybe? good idea maxwell
No. neither does adding a riser, boondocker box, boss seat or a loud can. LOL
define....i am going to put new gaskets clearly...but having a motor guy inpect the pistons and jugs to be sure thought..
Modman, quit hating those are all mods! lol also you sled is not classified as a mod sled with out ice scratchers :d also any thing that requires a minor MODification counts as a MOD hahahaha
Don't even question it, put new pistons in. What are you paying for a reman crank? I have bought a couple of cranks from CVTech-AAB inc for cylinder and crankshaft rebuilding and replating in Quebec, Canada check them out.
or buy a creat motor
