It was intent to injure...... Article in the sun was all over that, with lawyers sayin' it looked like intent to injure, and as a result could be facing criminal charges and possible jail time............. Too many cheapshot artists in the nhl these days!!!

We looked at it is morning for a good 15 min. It is just where that glass was that made it look so bad. Had it of been inside the blue line it would have been just like any other

Kinda agree with Ric, seems like alot of cheap
shots lately but I think they should be delt with within the league and leave the criminal aspect out of it.

I don't see intent to injure at all. On TSN today right after they showed Chara's hit they showed hockey hits of the week. Every single hit they showed was more intended to produce an injury than Chara's was. I feel bad for Paccioretti but he's shorter than Chara and it didn't take much with Chara's height and leverage to ride him into the boards. Good hit IMO but bad spot for an impact. Criminal charges could be laid every fricken week if they open up that can of worms. Total BS as far as I'm concerned.

It was a clean hit , just unfortunate that it happenned at the edge of the glass, sometimes $hit happens. The real crime is the people making such a big deal about it, and Air Canada talking about pulling sponsorship over the whole deal. If the rolls were reversed and it had been Chara laying on the ice, do you think Air Canada would be making a stink about it, I don't, I can picture the Execs up in their suite cheering the hit on, but because it was one of their boys, they are going to try and throw their weight around and make it a crime. If I were Bettman, I'd say to Air Canada, nah,nah,nah,nah,hey,hey,hey, Goodbye..........

There is no place for cops or lawers in hockey, it was a clean hit the out come was bad but hockey is a tough sport. Lets all hope the kid gets better.

the way I see this is like running thru a stop sign. We all do it and looks innocent until just that one time we fail to see a kid walking by or another car coming. It is a misfortune that someone got hurt but that is negligence and it could get you into a whole lot of trouble. I don't think Chara meant to injure like some are saying but I think he has to face some sort of consequences for his actions regardless if it happens all the time in the game. Just my 2 cents worth :d

Looking at the slow motion I can see how people might think there was intent... The slo-mo actually lets you believe Chara has time to calculate and orchestrate the perfect point of contact.....

BUT

Go back to real time and no way was it intentional... just unfortunate positioning, and to those who say "as a vetern player he always knows where he is on the ice" this may be true but the box configuration is different in every arena and concensious is that Montreal is set up poorly...

Unfortunate yes, Intentional no.....

On that note howerver the league could do themselves a favour by not trying to get inside the players head every time there is an incident and debate the old "intent" theory..... suspend and penalize based on the danger and risk not the intent...because frankly that is something no one but the player himself will ever truely know...

If Chara wanted to do that again,,, It would take 5 seasons to land something that perfect again,,, and the odds of that kiinda speed and contact so close to boards be tuff to avoid.....

Man I watched it a couple of times this morning trying to figure out whether it was intensional or not. Tough to tell but either way I agree that it should be handled within the league. It's a hard core sport and Johnny Law should stay out of it and let the league deal with it.
Hope that guy makes a full recovery, life sucks for him right now.

Soccer. Football. Baseball. Volleyball and even hockey Arent real sports cause they only require on ball. Sleding and motocross, quading and rally racing ect requires two balls. Those r sports. Back to topic it was a well placed hit from a man who has been doing laps around ice rinks his whole life. He knows where the glass is. I've been in fights (bars) whatever and when u through someone around or wrestle you know what's going on. It was a spit second decision to complete the hit. Criminal...... No. Real dirty .... Yes. In my opinion
