This is unbelievable, i was driving through montana today with my mirage extreme snow 27 ft enclosed when the front axle sheered off and lodged under the rear axle. Pushed through the side of the trailer, what a mess. I phoned the dealer that i bought it from(won't mension any names yet) and he said what do you want me to do about it? They were no help so i phoned ama and limped it back to canada and will be phoning Mirage on monday. So will keep everybody posted on what kind of service i get on a 11000 dollar trailer that is a year and a half old.

The bolts did not sheer off, the shackle completely ripped off the frame, the tow truck driver couldn't believe it. The dealership had the nerve to ask me if i hit a rock or something. I told him not to go there. Thanks guys i will keep you posted on monday, if i don't get the right results i will be phoning mirage and plastering pics all over this site and many more

Thats crazy, can't say I'd buy a mirage trailler after hearing this and seeing the other post. It would seam that theres not much quallity in most trailers out there. We bought a horse trailer, only to have to repair a ground wire before we could leave the dealers lot lol. Then on the way home the running lights started to flicker, I found the main ground in the tariler loose and fixed it. I also had to readjust the brakes so the thing didn't pull hard to one way lol. I have come to the conclustion that any thime you buy a trailer look at very closely and plan on repairing a few miner things. When i get time I will be pulling out all the butt connectors and wire taps and replacing them with solder and heat shrink. I think the problem is that the government doesn't have great standards for quality or saftey or even warranty like they have for vehicles. mirage sounds like a company that doesn't care at all, i know that some of the other trailer companys are better .

Sorry to hear about your luck i believe i went sledding with you and dobir last year in fernie if your the guy that got the snow dumped on your truck at glacier mtn. Kinda worried about this story as i also bought a 26 ft mirage extreme snow this last year haveent had any issues with it really other then putting a sled deck through the dront V. Guess i will have to make sure i keep a eye on the axels is this the one that has tandum 3500 lb axels? Well hopefully they take care of you these trailers i think have like two year warrenty against factory defects.

There was a dealer in Westlock that stopped selling the trailers due to the manufacturer sticking him for thousands of dollars in repairs that were supposed to be warranty and then the manufacturer decided not to honor the warranty.

There are a fair number of people out there with these trailers, take a good look at the axles, check your tires for wear patter which will indicate if you have an alignment problem and if you do get someone professional to look at it. Get the axles fixed before something like this happens.

After reading some other posts on mirage trailers kinda wish i would have spend a couple more g's and went with the triton sounds like a manufacture that might be trouble seeing it is not paying its warrenty claims by dealers. From the sounds of it their is at least three guys on this site that have had axel issues with mirage trailers seems like the 26 and 28 foot trailers and from the sounds of it it is a pissing match bettween is it mirage fault or the axel maunfature fault. Anyhow definatly have to look over my trailer and need be do some welding on the axels just sounds like their quality control is not that great at mirage. Well i hope you have luck their milton and hopefully this is a isolated incent and is just a missed issue and not a engineering issue or else allot more people will be losing axels. Again thanks for the posts good to know.

Yes Apex this is the right guy that you met with dobir, I am waiting till tomorrow to post pics till i hear what mirage has to say. I will not except any excuses or pay for these damages. This is a manufacturer defect, i have never taken this trailer off the number one and number two highway other then to stage, never hitten a rock or pot hole that could have done this. This axle just sheered right off the frame. Thank god it happened where it did cause if it was the rogers pass where we travel all the time to revy, i think things might have been alot worse as the trailer hopped up and down and skidded side to side. I will posts some more tomorrow.:rant:

Here's a second thought for you, considering this happened in Montana and the trailer manufacturer is from the States it may be worth you while (if the manufacturer tries to screwge you around) report this incident to the department of transportation as a public safety hazard, they'll get on it as they are much more aggressive about this kind of thing in the states as opposed to Canada. I hope you filed a report with the state troopers in the states as you can also use that to back you position if the manufacturer tries screwging you around.

So have you been out sledding much this year i got a text from dobir a few weeks ago about going to revy or something but working. Man you and your rig just dont have any luck it is either parked at Glacier MTN House getting gravel filled snow dumped on the hood of your brand new truck or you trailer is losing axels while driving down the highway. Really wish i would have done some research on these trailers before i bought it. Think its for sale been reading post after post of issues in the states from the front or back doors falling off to the header at the back falling off really didnt think you would have to worry about much for reliability on a trailer seems like a pretty simple thing but the warrenty sounds like a joke as well sounds like their are more then a few dealerships that have outstanding warrenty claims to mirage in alberta. Anyhow best of luck dude again thanks for the post i havent even really looked at my trailer much but i wasnt really impressed with how it was standing up for a 6 month old trailer and know for sure it is leaving me.

I have been hung out to dry, Mirage informed me that they are not prepared to warranty the damage due to the fact that i must have hit a bump in the road. Well they got that right, i did buy purchasing this trailer from Chinook Trailer sales in Lethbridge,ab. It is a 2008 26 ft extreme snow. What a piece of sh&%&&t. It was a good thing that this trailer let me down in the middle of nowhere and not running through rogers pass like we do once a month.

Oh man, I would be furious. But really, I buy a ton of trailers, about 6 this year already, you have to go back to the dealer...They have to do something for you...I know my dealer sure would, and one piece of advice, it is going to be waaaaay easier to damage the dealer than Mirage...

Hope you find some resolution here...

10-4 to that, the dealer will not step up. I have kept the name silent until today to hear what they had to say and of course they are siding with the manufacturer so now out comes the name which i have now posted. I have no way of proving that i have hit anything but to maybe phone Volker to find out if they can tell me where any size man eaters are between lethbridge and Revy cause that is the only highway use the trailer has seen, is highway 1 and highway 2. The sad thing is i could have bought it cheeper in the states but i thought i would spend a little more and stay local because i am a small business owner myself. Well here's for staying local, take my 11000 grand, send me down the road(axles falling off) and tough luck you are on your own.

We have a Mirage Dealer here in the Hat and I have looked and looked at them, and they have some nice features, but I just didnt feel comfortable with them, so ended up buying PJ's and Interstates, and have now just ordered an Atlas from Indiana. There is no reason that a trailer should ever lose an axle on a hiway. I run a pipeline company and we drag our trailers up and down every gravel road on earth and through fields and ROW's and such, and trust me, if I blew an axle using it the way I do, the dealer would back me...I would create such a crap storm, it would be in their best interest to shut me up...

I dont know Chinook, but if they are willing to take your money and not back you when you have an issue of this scale, bury them. Send me pics and I will let my dealers have them, and trust me they will plaster the south with the pics to help sell their brand...

Chitty deal man...

I read i believe it was on snowest last night that another guy had his front axel practically fall off i will see if i can find the post and mabey you can pm him and see what happened with that he is in the states but might be a good guy to talk to cause i think he got it fixed by the mirage manufacture. Anyhow best of luck getting that fixed and guess ill have to get the welder out and put some supports on myne as i guess we are on our own with these trailers it seems as their warrenty claims by dealerships havent been paid.

The dealer ship in Westlock was SWS and Mirage Dropped them as a dealer for non-payment and poor business ethics. Had nothing to do with warranty.

Just to be clear, Mirage does not build horse trailers so I am assuming you had issues with another mfg. In addition, Mirage cares very much about quality and saftey and is subject to inspection audits from the National Assossiation of Trailer Manufactures and passes every one.
