I said I'd post up some photo's from the damage to the trailer when the axles failed. I did some research on the issues with the Mirage trailers and have found a number of recalls in the States that have never been mentioned nor have any customers in Canada been notified of these particular issues. You can find the recalls in the NHTSA, I made a phone call to get more information from NHTSA and was genuinely impressed that they were all ears with my particular issue.

So back in June of 2011 contact was made with the dealer that sold the trailer (they no longer carry the product) they explained they don't sell the product and wished us luck on getting Mirage to stand behind the warranty on the trailer as it was common practice to wash their hands of any issues. (do a simple google search on Mirage Trailer Issues) and you'll be amazed at what you find. All common issues from trailer to trailer to trailer and in dealing with Mirage to get issues fixed.

An e mail was sent to Rob Swikirt and the warranty department in June of 2011, the warranty department said to give the axle manufacturer a call and washed their hands of any further dealings.

When I posted the above in October Rob from Mirage sent me a pm asking if I had an axe to grind with Mirage when I explained I didn't have an axe to grind rather I had an issue he asked for the information on the trailer and details of the issues with the failure. I sent the information and photo's to Rob which he received back in June of 2011 once again but claims to have never heard of any concern?

When I did hear back from Rob it was a lame excuse / reason the axle failed and then nothing for two weeks. I once again sent an e mail asking if they were going to do anything or honour the warranty for their product. I received a simple e mail from Rob saying we can't reimburse you for your troubles. So $5,200.00 out of pocket (not including labor) to fix what should have been covered under warranty?

Now what the fawk is that? Not once did I ask or demand anything rather left it up to them to see what they wanted to do about the issue.

SO WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM MIRAGE IF YOU HAVE AN ISSUE:
1. Nothing, they will not stand behind their product, nor will they honour the warranty that comes with the purchase of a trailer they build.
2. The run around to waste your time.
3. Unethical business practices from a dealer that has no concern about the product once it's left the yard.

I have also talked to a few dealers that sold Mirage Trailers and a common theme keeps coming up, Mirage will no warranty anything, the dealers take care of small issues at their cost to keep the customer happy and retain their reputation as they want to stay in business. Eventually the dealer can not continue to carry the Mirage line due to financial impacts and damage to their reputation so they have to drop Mirage and pick up another line of reputable manufacturer.

Here are some pictures.

I feel lucky in a way on how I FINALLY got my trailer fixed and not on warrenty by Mirage. Other than having to take the trailer to them was the only way I got my trailer fixed. It was not till I posted the pictures on here and SW that I got some action. Would I buy another Mirage trailer _ _.

You were in fact lucky. Seems SW is blocking all Mirage issues from being posted. Guess that's what happens when the site owner gets a free trailer to promote for Mirage lol.

Tried to but seems they got pulled somehow.
That's ok though, the NHTSA is going to check into how many of the Canadian owners were notified of the recall from Mirage.
Can we say class action suit coming up.

I asked them about the axle recall and they said my style of trailer was not on the list. There are cracks when i looked and will have to be welded up before any road trip.

The recall lists basically all models you can type in NHTSA recalls for Mirage and it'll show you all of the models.

My dad has one and we'll be doing the same, getting the chicken ch!t welds ground off, remove axles and re-align - re-weld.

He won't respond. He's signed in watching the thread but dare not step in with all the research and e mails I have from him.

Credit to SW, even though Mirage is a site sponsor they are leaving my rants up on line along with the pictures.

I really hope this comes through for you. Mirage Trailers should not be in business if that is how they intend to run things.

Good on you, anyone searching for Mirage Trailers or Mirage Snowmobile Trailers will likely pull this thread up and get this info to help decide on a better trailer, built by people who stand behind the product.

Axle defect on snowmobile trailers can pose accident risk
[/h]Mirage Enterprises, Inc. is recalling certain 2007-2009 Xtreme Snowmobile Trailers that have a steel bracket that can crack. Failure of this bracket can cause the axle to separate from the trailer.
“This could result in loss of control, property damage, personal injury or death,” according to the NHTSA announcement. Dealers will repair the defective trailers free of charge by welding each axle bracket to the trailer frame. Defective trailers included in this recall are as follows:

Dale, do you even own a Mirage Trailer? Who's trailer are you posting about? I've looked into our email records for this trailer, and it's evident that it was a "Richard" that we were dealing with regard to this unit. Furthermore, we offered a "Richard" a full repair AT NO CHARGE provided that the trailer was brought down to our facility. Apparently this was insufficient for "Richard's" needs, and suddenly YOU are out 5200 dollars for a repair that we never authorized.

Mirage Trailers stands behind our products 100%.

Here's the original email chain in question:

It's a shame.
It has come to my attention that “Dale Dalueg” made up his whole story concerning his Mirage Trailer.
He claimed to be the original owner; and he is not, when questioned, he then claimed he co-owned the unit with the original owner, he did not.
He claimed the axle failed after 12 months, it did not.
He claimed the repair cost was $5200, it was not.
He claimed Mirage ignored him, we did not.
He claimed he called the dealer where he purchased the unit, he did not.
He claims to be a “victim”, he is not.

He was very aware the warranty was not transferable from the original owner and did everything, including compromising his integrity, to deceive Mirage.
Mirage offered to repair his unit at no charge if he returned it to the factory, we now realize why he decided not to choose this option.
If he would have been honest from the start, there would have been a totally different outcome.
The fact that he started his own personal "smear" campaign based on lies, is disappointing to say the least, and directly reflects the absence of morals in some individuals.

This concludes this matter.

like i said in the other posts, bovine fecal matter, what good does it do to offer a warenty that is only good if unit gets returned to your factory? if i ran our shop like that i would be out of buisiness. 4-5 days driving with lets say 2 days to fix, provided it wasn't a weekend, or was supposed to be done friday but couldn't get it done/ more issues found. pending circumstances this could possibly cost an individual 10g or more to get a "warrenty" issue fixed. offering to fix for free at your plant is not an acceptable compromise in anybodies opinion i dont think.
cost of warrenty repair mirage style 500-1000, for fuel, same for hotels, another400 for food, lost wages 1 wee at 300 per day( average i figure) 1800+ already at 4g and thats saying only 2 day drive each way and 2 days to fix goes up by 600+ per day i would figure. plus wear and maint. on a vehicle, and you still are left with a trailer that has a zero resale value because of their warrenty practices.

I don't think you understand the situation, Dale did not have a warranty (second owner) so we offered to fix at N/C at Factory. If the unit would have been within it's warranty period, we would have authorized to fix locally. Very fair and more than most mfg's would offer.

i personally believe the whole warranty only for original owner is total BS. not singling you out rob, just in general i think it's BS. i know it's LEGAl, just don't think it's right. i mean, who really cares how many people have owned a product. if it breaks, within a specified time period, what difference does it make if 1 person owned it or 5?????

Hey Rob you fawktard read these below, this isn't Snow West where the Admin and Mods sawk your d*ck when you're a site sponsor. You're not going to get the same ass kissing treatment over here so don't bring your lying bull ch!t to this site. We made up a big banner for the trailer wait till you see it douche.
Last i've got to say about this.

Another Mirage bites the dust...... The brother in law has a 28 foot xtreme and the axles let go causing some serious damage, fought with Mirage for a number of months on it and got screwed. The trailer has less than 12k on it.

My dad has a xtreme also, I crawled under it to check out the axles and you wouldn't believe the chicken shat welds that are holding them in place, looks like a five year old was given a welder and told to go play............

I've been following the number of issues with the Mirage trailers and will be resourcing more information from the States and the Highway Traffic Safety Board to see when they are going to step in on the number of issues / accidents / complaints about Mirage.

So my name wasnt on the bill of sale I still have a financial interest in the trailer with the brother in law but that's what you get from Mirage........ Twist.
